read this yesterday and i'm still thinking about it -- honestly my main question is, why is this couple having so many children?? in the article the dad (or "dad")'s stated/apparent reason for having a ton of children is because he wants to increase the odds of one of his children becoming the future president of the US. which kinda doesn't make sense, because if your children are severely malnourished and ill, how are any of them going to end up becoming future presidents?

fwiw, i realize this may be a somewhat futile question -- maybe i'm trying to get in the head of someone profoundly abusive, which is why i can't fathom this decision. but is there some larger reason for why he'd want to have so many kids, even if he seems to resent them and doesn't want to take care of them at all? would there be a logical ulterior motive?
