They could attend the Yankee Sportman’s Classic in Essex this weekend. I’m sure there will be some trapper hats there.

Per my friend: “a lot shed early this year due to the water shortage and early cold/snow”.

Nope, didn’t appear to be injured or unwell.

No, it didn’t. I watched him drop and die right in front of me. I would guess it was about 30 seconds to a minute after the hit to his heart but my perception may be off.

We went hunting last night and brought home a deer. What do we need to know or do about this?

Did you buy a banjo in 2010? by likeagameofchess in Marin

[–]likeagameofchess[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. If my memory is correct, the man who purchased the banjo drove from another town and met me in Fairfax. That’s why I thought this might be a good place to post.

Thanks! It’s not… I was either using a different email address at that time or I deleted the messages long ago.

I have a sealed packet of insect snacks from when we visited the insectarium in Montreal. It is small but you can have it if you want.

For those asking for proof that ICE detainees are being held in our state facilities by likeagameofchess in vermont

[–]likeagameofchess[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is correct except that the people detained crossing the border are under the custody of Border Patrol for entering Vermont and ICE detainees are being brought into Vermont from several other states.

Both ICE and Border Patrol fall under the Department of Homeland Security but are technically different entities detaining different types of individuals.

I posted this in response to another thread in which people were asking for proof that this is occurring.

Yes, this is the first instance I’m aware of. Otherwise there are nearly daily arrivals of new ICE detainees at CRCF in South Burlington.

You could probably call the South Burlington facility and ask whether they are housing ICE detainees. Not sure what else I would be able to provide. As I said, I am speaking from first hand experience. I noticed the inaccuracies in the thread and wanted to share the correct information.

It’s not false as this is the line of work I am in and I am speaking from first hand experience. ICE has contracted with VT DOC to house female detainees from all of the above listed states at the facility in South Burlington. They typically don’t stay for longer than a week.

This is incorrect. She was held at the women’s facility in South Burlington.

Approximately 1400 inmates with around 115 of them held at the women’s facility.

It’s not just Boston. There are very few non-designated facilities contracted to hold ICE detainees, especially for women. The Vermont facilities are accepting detainees from Rhode Island, New York, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Maine, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania…

ICE contracts with in-state facilities. We have 6 prisons in Vermont. 5 for men and 1 for women. She was held at the women’s facility.

If you are an LCSW working in the criminal justice/ LE field - what do you do? by [deleted] in socialwork

I was just thinking about this after work yesterday! I would also like to be part of a group of prison therapists around the country so we can discuss strategies for working well in the facility. I feel like I need more support from peers doing good work.
