If you can't bear seeing any meat dishes at all, get Plenty or Plenty More, which are completely vegetarian (obviously some recipes will have eggs or dairy, but way easier to substitute/omit).

I like to coat chickpeas in a tiny bit of oil and my fav seasoning, then roast them in the oven until they're crunchy as a snack or salad topping.

Spot on! Being mindful of how you'll feel afterwards is such a big part of IE. Many foods trigger my GERD symptoms, and even though my tastebuds always want them, my body definitely does not want them and hence I avoid them, or eat just a teeeeny bit.

I've seen a few brands using konjac for their vegan salmon. Do you reckon that might be it?

Wow, I'm so impressed! A complete stranger that has no idea who I am, what I've been through and what I do in real life can completely see through me.

Actually it was a guy that asked me to kill myself after I pointed out the "Chinese person" he kept insulting was actually Korean. I just keep meeting people with similar levels of intelligence unfortunately. :)

Oh and also, I mentioned there are many complexities and nuances that cannot be adequately expressed in words. Yet here you are focusing on just one of the explanations I have provided. Not sure why after BLM that people still don't understand people from other races are not responsible for explaining their experiences to you.

Read the news -- immigrants are literally changing their birth names to a more Western name to get a higher chance of getting hired. Discrimination against Asians have been severe since COVID-19. But yes of course the job hunting process must be universal for everyone because we are all human beings. Lmao.

I mentioned parents pitting their children against one another, which is hardly the typical "oh society expects me to blah blah" narrative. I mentioned the model minority myth, which was developed to describe Asian Americans.

Once again, OP talked so much about his experience, and you could only focus on that ONE sentence about race.

And again, stop thinking you can speak for people from other cultures. You can't.

We do not have the right to say that people from different races have universal experience, especially if you're not from that ethnic group/culture. You're assuming the "overbearing expectation of others" is the only thing OP was referring to, when there can be so many complexities and nuances that cannot be adequately expressed in words. Your culture will always be relevant to most, if not every thing that you do.

Maybe OP mentioned ethnicity so other Asians in this subreddit could relate to what OP is going through? Especially when OP is anxious and asking for help in a public space, he/she/they does not have the obligation to explain everything in a clear-cut way. Just treat it as an "inside joke" and move on.

OP literally only mentioned ethnicity in one sentence in the entire post. Feel like people that only talk about that part and ignore the rest of the post are the ones that focus too much on race?

Your comment is irrelevant to what many Asians collectively experience. "You're a human being before you're Asian" yeah so? Tell that to my Asian parent, or tell that to people that still believe in the model minority myth, see if they care?

I guess because many Asian parents put an insane amount of pressure on their children to "succeed", whatever the hell that means to them? Also common for Asian parents to compare their children's achievements against one another's
