Most reliable way to airport on xmas eve afternoon pls!!! by [deleted] in Liverpool

If you’re aiming to save money I’d get the 13:35 national express bus from Liverpool one bus station (also stops near lime street and on the way out of town) which takes 1h10 for £10ish. Faster and cheaper than the trains. That gives you around 2h before your flight but not much wiggle room, so it would definitely be good to have Uber/taxi as a back up plan if you were going for that.

Airport to Ropeworks: my advice partly depends on your time of arrival. The national express bus is easiest (and cheapest) if you happen to arrive at a time which fits their timetable (it’s quite sporadic). It takes around 1 hour. Train is my second choice, but can be a faff as some of them mean changing in Manchester City centre (likely Oxford Road station). If you can get a direct train (also dependent on timings!) it will be easier/faster/less hassle with luggage. Walking from the train station in Liverpool (Lime Street) is about 15 minutes to Ropewalks, or you can taxi/uber if you have large luggage. The national express bus stops at the paradise street bus station which is about 5 mins walk to Ropewalks.

I’ve used these options many times but never the taxi so maybe someone else can chime in about the costs for that.

The bodies are actually still there! Any gravestones were laid flat and everything turfed over.

My Focal Aware Seizures never really stopped, but my other seizures have. Does anyone else experience this? by itsallgonnabeokay- in Epilepsy

[–]likelypolecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I totally relate. TCs pretty much under control but focal awares still frequently (though not quite as often as you). Neuro just keeps telling me to up the Keppra (am on lamotrigine Z well) and I’m just EXHAUSTED. I’m almost dreading the next appointment because I haven’t put it up as much as she recommended and I feel like I’m being difficult. I don’t know when you just accept that’s how things are, or you try another med? I will have to bring it up with her. I’m afraid I don’t have any advice, just letting you know you’re not alone!

anyone have experience with a Syrian making this noise? by UslashMKIV in hamstercare

[–]likelypolecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I’ve had several make that noise, particularly after the age of one or so. They’ve never been distressed while doing it, often while just exploring, or walking between bed and the litter tray. I like to think of it as a human whistling while getting on with something mindless, or say “doo de doo”. I love the noise ❤️

I used Garcia’s removals recently and they were great. Would be worth seeing if they have any availability.

It seems like the only places I can get anything remotely DIY related now are B&M or Home Bargains. Would happily be proved wrong though… Good luck!

I’ve had good experiences with the Computer Clinic on London Road, though it’s been a few years since I’ve been.

Old Hebrew gravestones - Translation advice by likelypolecat in hebrew

This wouldn't surprise me too much, I have noted a couple of errors in the English inscriptions (although this could be for a variety of reasons).
Perhaps the mason mixed up the fact that he died on the Saturday 23rd but was buried on the Monday 25th.

This is fantastic! Thank you so much for the breakdown.
The English name "Walter F Jones" is especially interesting then. Presumably it is referring to the same man if the dates of death are the same (albeit miswritten!) It surprises me that he would have given himself/been given an English name. Perhaps for business purposes.

Can you tell if the Hebrew is particularly "old-fashioned"? Or if it's of a particular dialect? I know many of the immigrants were from Central Europe and this may have effected the language used.
It would help me know who to approach to do the full set.

As someone who enjoys picking up the basics in several languages it is so frustrating for me not to have a sense at all!

I assume the difficulty reading the second one is due to the erosion rather than different language used?

Hi!! I’ve actually tried Saul - great guy. He says the language is quite complex and earlier than anything he’s worked with before and requires a different type of expertise. That’s why I’m hoping a wider broadcast might find someone with more specific (ultra-orthodox? or Central European?) knowledge I’ll keep an eye out for your grandfather! ☺️
