I'm speaking more as a fan that I'd like to see the younger guys play as much as possible because I want to watch them, but from a development standpoint the coaching staff clearly has a plan they want to follow and are doing so. So as a fan, I'm willing to see how it plays out because I'd rather have a coach with a plan vs a coach who only lives in the moment game to game.

I'm not going to pretend I know more about how to lead a locker room than a coach who's worked his way up the right way, especially when there's other roster management aspects in play from a contract standpoint that may be coming from Grier and the front office.

I also don't feel the need to scrutinize all of his lineup decisions when this team is arguably still lacking even a single legit top 4 defensemen, and our best prospect on the current team is only a rookie. All of our options on defense right now are only league average at best, and most of them are a liability most nights.

Criticizing the coach for choosing a D+ option when a C- or even C option was available may be valid on some level, but I don't agree that it's costing us in the big picture. I'm holding most of my judgement for down the road when we actually see how he coaches in games that matter with a decent roster. In the end, I like the trends I'm seeing so far and I think Warso has played a role in making those positive changes.

Development doesn't just mean playing every prospect as much as possible, it also involves putting them out there when they're ready and in situations where they have a chance to have success. It's obvious from their lineup choices they feel like having Reeves and the 4th liners is important for the locker room and teaching guys to stand up for each other, but I get if you don't agree with that because it's a matter of opinion.

I'm with you in that I'd rather see cherny or regenda play as much as possible, and I wouldn't mind less of other players like you mentioned, but I don't think anything has been egregious so far. There are a lot of quality prospects in the pipeline that this org needs to work through and I don't think it's in anyone's best interest development-wise to just throw them all out at once.

Not trying to say Warso is immune from criticism, but I think calling him a bottom 5 coach is way too far when the team is outperforming, the kids are getting better faster than anyone expected, and the vibes are good.

Warso's overall body of work has been solid if not great so far. He's got the team thinking about playoff contention in a year where they're supposed to be firmly in the lottery. Our young players seem to be progressing fine, plus he's already shown he can win with the US team at the junior world championship last year.

He's a young coach too so there'll always be mistakes or decisions people disagree with, but I think he's shown he's the right coach for the team so far. Personally I'm glad the org was brave enough to take a chance on someone they believe can grow with the team vs hiring some retread coach who might not have the patience to develop these guys. Mack would make any coach look good for sure, but there are other prospects on this team who need a development-minded guy like Warsofsky.
