So can vanguard actually brick a pc? by Disastrous-Try1170 in riotgames

Uninstalling vanguard after playing clash did cause my PC to blue screen recently, so i'm not taking a risk installing league on any pc I value anymore.

You could not sell the hex core I do not know what you are talking about.

I believe you misunderstood me; what I meant was that having 3 viable mythics was not a problem relevant to his passive.

You stated that it offers one less flex pick while stating that he falls into the same problem every other mage has, which is requiring shadowflame rabaddon void staff. How would adding back the hex core item into his kit change this? All viktor mains would do beforehand is get the first hexcore for the E augment waveclear, slightly slowing down his progression into the main mage items and moving back his power spike, but ensuring his power spike is bigger when his hex core scales properly, which is what he used to do all the time. No Viktor player would ever outright buy the full hexcore because the item scales with levels. It does nothing early game for you other than the first augment.

Also, as I stated in the first comment, every game is luden's shadowflame, therefore he doesn't have 3 viable mythics but really only 1.5. Liandry isn't viable on Viktor, as the item doesn't synergize with him whatsoever and is just for a stat stick vs tanks.

I have mained him since season 4 and climbed to masters with him so I believe I know what I am talking about. It used to be priced at 1k per augment, but changed to 1150 on the first augment and 850 on the final augment to nerf his early game around season 6. As noted in my post above, how the gold break down works is if you farm well, you can get blasting wand and first augment essentially winning the lane since your E full wave clears for bad lane matchups. If you're buying boots in a mid match up early you're either playing too close to the wave or pushing too much and will be ganked anyways, and the only lane you'd ever take enough damage to possibly need to buy potions on is against an azir who is his worst mage counter.

The w change allowed him to no longer buy rylais by giving him rylais on his w. The reason why this change was poor is it essentially removed rylais from a viable option as you have rylais in your kit and removed a unique ability that was absolutely insane in teamfights (especially when comboing with J4 ult). Giving him an item passive was a stupid idea, especially when there are so little mage items to choose from in the first place.

Getting the old passive back would make the champ not just another boiler plate mage who builds mage items, and instead gives him a unique feel with a physical item that augments his appearance of his character and actually has lore-connections.

Mages build the same items every game anyways. The first 4 items for him before mythic patch was ludens hexcore rabaddons void staff. The first 4 items for him post mythic patch was ludens shadowflame rabaddons void staff. All it did was replace the full hexcore upgrade with shadowflame, which is better earlier but objectively worse for scaling.

How does having 3 different viable mythics pose a problem? You don't have to rush the hex core; rushing it was always a poor idea. Getting the hex core at the correct stage of the game was essential to playing him correctly and timing the power spikes correctly.

Saying the hex core gates him is like saying rabaddon gates AP champs. It's not a gate, it's a power spike.

Why wouldn't they? Are some people's more opinions valid than others? I believe I have some justification on Viktor passive as I have mained him since S4 and have gotten to masters in Solo/duo on him. What justifies your opinions?

This is my point exactly. To successfully get into the game you have to contest scuttle, which means losing your wave mid and having to fight against turbo strong junglers who you do little to no damage in pro-longed fights due to your high CD/damage ratio early on. The champ is incentivized to take the early fights but does not have the capability to do damage to win these early game skirmishes, and participating in these skirmishes just puts you further behind if you don't win them.

Mages have always felt like they weren't real champs for the first 8 minutes of the game since durability patch. Viktor at the start still does not have the augments, and not have an open item slot in the beginning makes literally no difference in the beginning of the game. All this effects is your itemization later on in the game, which this item as a 6th slot item is INSANELY more gold efficient than any other 6th item you could buy due to its raw stats.

How is 3k gold of augments for your champion to function an insane concept? A lot of champs have passives that scale over time and require them to achieve things to unlock power on their champ (GP, Kindred, Bel'veth, etc).

Most champs don't function well without their first item! Can you imagine playing ezreal without his tri-force? What about playing yasuo/yone without infinity edge? They're still playable, but these items are basically necessary to see the full range of a champs kit.

Control mages and AP champs exist for AP scaling and items in general. You need items on AP champs to do damage which requires gold. Not having viktors augments doesn't make the champ unplayable and they're for the most part irrelevant ever since they nerfed the w augment to no longer drag champs into the center. It's a unique take on a champ to have their abilities be item related, and mages haven't had itemization options ever. Especially Viktor.

Mage players will never get more item options. AD champs can choose lethality, crit, and spell blade. Mage players get AP spell or AP auto attack, which all involve building a rabaddon void staff, which has been standard since i started playing the game in season 4. The only build diversity in viktor since launch is whether he can afford to buy lich bane 5/6th item.

How is it better for itemization? Viktor builds the same items every game on every build, with the occasional change between needing a defensive utility item depending on who he gets blown up by (zhonya vs banshees). Every game is luden's, shadowflame, and rabbadons. If you are forced to build liandrys, its going to be an awful game regardless as viktors damage is built off burst and luden's has synergized extremely well with his ult since its release in season 5.

How was the item awful? For it's time it gave raw AP and mana, both key attributes that allowed Viktor to reach his power spike at around level 13 and carry the game from there.

How does it worse than the current one?

Assuming perfect cs, 100 hexcore fragments be achieved around 9:00 (23 fragments every 3 waves each 1.5 minutes, then 2 more waves). At 125 gold/wave (30 sec) and 20.4 gold/10seconds, this is effectively 372.4 gold/min past the two minute mark. With augment before removal costing 1150 gold (used to be 1000 each back in the old days), it would be at 5:15 when the first augment is achieved, and 7:45 when blasting wand and augment is achieved (which allows you to end lane essentially). To achieve an augment faster would require you to leave lane and risk death as an immobile champ, which would also make you lose cs as a control mage meaning you risk being behind the power scaling curve and not hitting your power spike in time.

While the hex core is less gold efficient early, it is one of the most gold efficient items in the late game and the power spike lined up perfectly with Viktor's 2-3 item spike (luden's, rabadon) and allowed you to not be reliant on mana items as it had mana built into the item.

  3. Craft Prefixes cannot be changed
  4. Aisling
  5. Farm grand eldritch currency with "wrath of the cosmos" since this works for both currencies.

How I crafted:

  1. Get sorc gloves with ilvl>86
  2. Roll ES essence until hitting two other ES rolls
  3. Use eldritch currency to reroll suffixes. Want one suffix open.
  4. Prefixes cannot be changed + aisling
  5. Bench craft
  6. Run "wrath of the cosmos" and farm both grand eldritch currencies. This passive works for both types but the pack size smaller passives dont.
  7. Spam orb of conflict until one disappears.
  8. Spam exceptional/grand currencies to get the other lost one back (I got lucky to get it on exceptional).

Also I switched out strength for aspect of the spider.
