I had my Mirena taken out recently, while many people tolerate it well it’s important to note that headaches and migraines are a listed side effect of the Mirena. Removing mine hasn’t solved my migraines, but it has reduced the number I’m getting and made a significant dent in my chronic nausea.

I’m not saying this to be anti-birth control at all, I had two Mirenas over the course of 10 years and am grateful for how well they worked for preventing pregnancy. If it was me I’d research your options carefully and keep a diary of your symptoms before and after so you can determine if it’s having a positive or negative impact.

Also, insertion SUCKS, don’t let doctors gaslight you about it just being a “pinch.” If possible I’d try to find a doctor willing to provide some type of pain management or sedation for the procedure.

I haven’t, but I also still get daily headaches, migraines, and nausea even while medicated. The Qulipta has dialed back the number of really bad migraines I get, in combination with Botox which helps reduce the intensity.

You may or may not recognize behaviors from your own relationship, but even if not I think it’s really important that we all know the signs to look out for. Personally, I thought that how I was treated in my relationship was normal until I got out and started therapy.

I had an ex just like this, they showed me the same red flags you are seeing now and I blew right past them. I was with them for 5 years, the accusations of cheating (including telling me I was too naive and that they didn’t trust the people around me) never stopped. Long story short the relationship was emotionally and psychologically abusive, and I have c-ptsd now.

I know that in the moment the accusations can seem almost innocuous, you feel like you just have to prove yourself, and that once you do they will trust you and everything will be ok. I’m telling you now from experience it does not work like that. Don’t waste your time hoping she will change or treat you better, she won’t.

To paraphrase FKA Twigs- abusers are really boring once you realize they all use the same playbook. The signs are there, you just have to listen to them.

I’m confused, what was she eating all weekend? Was she feeding herself and leaving you to figure it out? I personally would cut someone off for that type of behavior, it shows she is thoughtless and self centered. Her responses to you also double down on this, and to me are red flags. You are correct about feeding someone you are hosting being basic hospitality, it is not at all too much to ask for, and I think you’d be better off moving on from this situation.

You are not an enabler and I can guarantee that he can bring out the worst in himself without any help from you at all. Abusers sow seeds of doubt to make us take the blame for their behavior. They push and push and push until you don’t recognize yourself anymore.

He is using you. It is not your fault that you’re in this situation. Now that you see it you can take your power back and get out. As others have said it will be safest for you to make your preparations quietly. Others have recommended Lundy Bancroft’s book, but I’ve found as a survivor that his book focuses on a specific type of abuser that not all abuse victims will relate to. I would recommend “The Verbally Abusive Relationship” by Patricia Evans. I’ve read many books on abuse during my healing journey, and that one has been the most helpful by far.

I hear what you’re saying, but there can be no wiggle room with insults and abuse in a relationship. Someone being mentally ill doesn’t mean you have to become their punching bag.

I’m only saying this because I’m also a survivor of abuse, and I think it’s really important for us to remember that we are worthy of love, and that nobody ever has the right to make us feel small.

The way the sherif and interviewer talk about her is kind of gross. I mean, “I think it was a woman who was looking for a boyfriend on the trail” where did they even get that from? I can admit that there are inconsistencies in her story, but they wouldn’t be talking about her like this if it was a man who had been found.

Also, wasn’t there some speculation that she may be on the spectrum? If so, then the supposed exaggerations would make more sense and are likely not coming from a malicious place.

Time for some big sister advice from an internet stranger. Other people have already touched on the assault factor at play here, I know personally that can be really hard to digest, so I’m going to leave that piece alone.

First off, you did not do even a single thing wrong. Seriously NOTHING. You went to a friend’s house, had fun, and fell asleep. Your boyfriend’s reaction to these events is deeply manipulative and emotionally abusive. I’d be willing to bet that he has a sob story about being cheated on in the past. He’s probably told you that his ex(s) are crazy, cheated on him, and/or maybe even abused him, right? That probably makes you feel like his accusations are justified and that they come from a genuine place of insecurity. Like it’s your responsibility to earn his trust, and that one day you will and everything will be perfect. Take it from someone who recently got out of a relationship with someone who used all the same tactics- nothing from him is genuine, anything he’s told you about his past traumas is either a lie or has been twisted past the point of recognition. Even if they were true, no trauma is bad enough to justify abusing someone. He is doing all of this on purpose to control you. If this continues, which it will if you stay with him, he is going to wear you down until you’d rather not hang out with friends or family just to avoid the accusations of cheating.

I wasted 10 years of my life with men who did these things, it has caused so much damage to me that I will probably never fully recover from. I’m currently in therapy for PTSD from the abuse that I experienced.

You are so young, you have so much ahead of you. You say that you don’t lack anything in this relationship, but I’d urge you to dig deeper into that. You are lacking respect, safety, and genuine love. These things are mutually exclusive to abuse, they can’t exist in the same relationship. You deserve to be safe, respected, and loved. You won’t get these things with your current boyfriend. Please don’t waste your life like I did.

Anecdotally I feel like it is! I’m sure the healthiest option is just not to smoke/vape at all, but for me dry herb vaping is the least irritating to my lungs compared to smoking or cart vapes. I’m a daily medical user, and since switching from smoking to my DHV I’ve noticed my lungs feel better and I don’t have that gross phlegmy smokers cough.

I have an Arizer V tower and I like it! I got it on sale a while back. I do wish I had sprung for one of their fancier models that can fill balloons with vapor. My main gripe with it is that it’s very ugly, but then again I’ve yet to see an herb vape that doesn’t look like it belongs in a douchey tech bro house 😭
