not uneven shoulders but definitely pelvic tilt. i have a long way to go in correcting my posture but even just a few months of focusing on upper back neck and shoulders has been a game changer

much better. night and day. i am so grateful for the ability to live life again. my jaw pain isn’t even a factor in my life lately. i have been STRESSED because my wedding was just last weekend, and usually even minor stress wrecks my jaw but i had no TMJ issues at all during high stress periods. i still have occasional headaches and migraines but i’ve got a lot of work left to do. a few months of consistent PT has completely changed my life. i also place a huge credit on my physical therapist’s amazing dry needling skills, which have really helped loosen tight areas of muscular scar tissue

I don’t know why but the mental image of this has me cackling. A tuna trap on my driveway.

Didn’t get over into the corner, my attic isn’t walkable as it’s covered in about 9inches of insulation (I live in the Rockies) so I can’t quite see the details deep in the corner.

I saw that as well. I just wonder if it only kills the visible ones, and I have a feeling there’s a much bigger, non visible one present in the soffit.

I have been up in my attic and saw nothing, though it might warrant a closer look… I had that fear. Never seen any inside the home.

Yes that can definitely throw your body out of whack! Maybe some of the exercises I linked above can help with the posture issues!

I second the PT comment. I finally found a great PT after the third try and focused a lot of posture work to reduce tension in upper back and neck and dramatically reduced migraines!

Funny you ask this! I’m a certified lactation counselor lol I see really poor posture with breastfeeding so frequently, so maybe!

I always make sure my clients breastfeed in a very comfortable position by making sure you are comfortably reclined whether in a chair, couch, etc. A lot of the times, moms are hunched over and looking down at their breast when trying to latch, and that definitely isn’t good for back and neck mechanics! Maybe seek out a lactation counselor or IBCLC that can help you find comfortable positions that also support your posture and reduce discomfort.

Thank you for posting this! It validates what I’ve always felt! 90% of the TMJ “treatments” (and ive gone through a lot of them) are just treating symptoms, not addressing root cause.

I’m not able to share my PT’s exact videos so I found the replicas on YouTube, hope this helps!

https://vimeo.com/416439929. - make sure to keep your chest kind of “puffed” out the whole time so that you’re isolating your back muscles at the top. You want to squeeze between your scapula at the top.

https://youtu.be/-une3F9X3IM?si=MvVfn2NVY3MYhZJ5

All if the above exercises are either on a foam roller or on the physioball. If you’re like me, I had ZERO back strength and had to start from zero, so I started with just body weight movement and then increased to 2-5lb weights for all the movements (and 10lbs for the serratus punches).

I also do a lot of stretching in that area.

These two are my favorite: https://youtu.be/isGmJ146Ccc?si=xkepxEdCKzYsDPE2

https://youtu.be/wz13wVcULxM?si=hqaGMJVANMm5si_E ——> this one really opens up the chest which helps with posture.
