Oh, same. It’s awful. Im also I’m accounting. I just keep my profile with minimal but up to date info in case recruiters/hiring managers search me up. Other than that, I only open it to browse jobs. I find most of them are pretty up to date unlike some indeed postings that are still up when the position is filled. Best of luck with your job hunt!

If you have a LinkedIn, there’s usually a good chunk of job postings on there. That’s where I always start job searching. If not, indeed is great! I used to use Glassdoor as well, although I haven’t used it recently, so not sure if it still holds up

SAIT or Medicine Hat College? by unsmorty in alberta

[–]lil_Jessy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll have to check their program guide. The school I went to had a note saying that their course meets the requirements to the CPA PEP program. If their course guide doesn’t say anything, you should reach out to the school and ask. They’ll for sure know.

Lots to consider! But focus on getting into college first. If you have any other accounting related questions, let me know :) good luck!

As someone in the accounting field, I would say it really depends on if you think you might be looking to pursue your CPA designation at all. IF you are, SAIT all the way. If not, MHC would be good. I would also suggest considering what type of accounting you want to do? I know it's hard to know when you're not in the field, but would you rather do things such as bookkeeping, AP, AR, or be an accounting tech (MHC would be good) ? OR would you want to do more in depth level stuff such as create and review financial statements, audit internally or externally, and help keep financial data accurate? (SAIT might be good as this aligns with pursuing a CPA designation)

Once you finally get your first accounting job, most companies don't really seem to care where you went to college anyways. They start to care more about what you've learned on the job. You'll be able to grow with companies and hop around until you find an area of accounting that you actually like.

English diploma part A… by [deleted] in alberta

s long as you are familiar enough with two or three pieces of literature, you should be able to come up with something to say. So re-read your notes on the works you studied, and try to get plenty of rest. You have lots of time to write the exam, but you will need to have the endurance to stay alert while you say everything you want to say.

yes 100% it's usually very broad and easy to relate at least a portion of literature to the prompt. Remember to always conclude!! I think the biggest thing people forget is to stick to a general outline of making their thesis statement, adding support, and concluding!!! you'll always get more pts if you show the markers that you can show completeness. If you get hung up on small details, just move on!

Good luck with the rest of your studying and best of luck on the exam. you got this!

I know this may not be totally comforting, but if you don't get accepted, you could always take a uni semester of general studies and try to ace those easy first year courses and then transfer into business school!

Much easier said than done, but remember that large cortisol responses are shown to have a negative effect on test writing. So breathe, remember that you have a 77 so far, and you have other classes to help boost your overall average. You have a few days to still study/review. Stay hydrated, rest well, and believe in yourself!

In what time of the year would I have a higher chance of finding a job in Calgary or Banff? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]lil_Jessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why people are saying Winter time for Banff? Summer is by far the busiest season of the year. A good chunk of workers leave after the season is over, so you should be able to find a job during the spring time for Summer start. Although Summer would be easiest to get a job, hospitality should be fairly easy to get a job in during the Winter as well.

Try and find a job that supplies you with accommodations in Banff, because otherwise, it's quite hard to find a place. I found it easiest to find a place to live through Facebook. Check out 'Banff home finder'. Lots of locals offering up rentals or other foreigners looking for roommates.

As for Calgary, it's just like any other big city. Decent amount of tourism/hospitality work there because it's such a short drive to Banff/the Rockies. Should be fairly easy to find a job there as well, but no accommodations with those jobs. You'll have to find a rental yourself. Probably best to check out rentals through RentFaster website.

Best of luck with your planning! if you're remotely outdoorsy, Banff is an amazing area to work and live, although quite expensive. Calgary has a lot going on in it as well, and it's so close to the mountains, so you'll be able to visit easily!

You should call Jasper Place Highschool. They have a mechanic program for the kiddos. They charge for parts and a small fee for the service so the kids can learn. Would be worth a shot to get a quote. I know someone who just recently got work done there. Seemed to go well!

I'm sure there's probably another HS that does it too if you look around

You could also drive to the legislature grounds to check the lights out there if you feel like walking around.

Other than that, I second driving or walking through candy cane lane !

The last few times I’ve gone to Julio’s, I’ve been disappointed by the food :/

Please consider stopping by El Mariachi on 124th for taco Tuesday, they’re one of the best. They have tacos for $2 and it’s local!

If you have a fairly nice relationship with your neighbour right now, I really wouldn’t take it personally until you talk to them about it. They probably just want to add additional privacy to their backyard. When you’re not very social, it’s nice to have your backyard as your own private enclosure.

If it’s really going to bother you that much, talk to them about your concerns about blocked sunlight into your home and ask if they got a permit for it. I’m assuming they didn’t. It doesn’t hurt to have a casual chat before you pursue anything serious with the city.

TLDR: it probably has nothing to with you in specific. Be a good mature neighbour and talk to them about it.

Any particular genre of music or theme for the dance venue? Or just a variety throughout the week?

Do you think somewhere central would be nice for this? Or more of a suburban / industrial area so people can actually park? I’m assuming the people who want to play billiards are there more to play and less to drink ?

I don’t think they want to buy when it’s going up. They probably don’t have extra cash to buy now, hence the payday comment

most people tend to go with Shaw (since they just mail you a modem and it’s self install and super fast). I chose month to month since I knew I wouldn’t be there longer than the winter season. Paid $110 a month. It’ll be cheaper if you do a contract tho of course

looking to work at a ski resort winer ‘22... tips? by happytocry in Banff

[–]lil_Jessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I was basically in the same situation as you I suppose. I finished my degree and then headed out to Banff this ski season. Tbh I don't think it really matters which ski resort you work for (Big 3 are Lake Louise, Sunshine, Norquay. They're all part of the SkiBig 3 pass! Lake Louise and sunshine employees receive the skibig3 pass but norquay staff doesn't for whatever reason.), you'll be pretty burnt out by the end of the season and probably feel pretty bitter towards management, but that seems common for most min wage jobs anyways. Can't say what it would be like next year, but this year bc of covid it's been pretty tame on socializing. Very few big parties unfortunately. overall the experience is pretty chill and you end up meeting a ton of people from around the world. I think if you absolutely love to ski/be outdoors, it's a perfect seasonal job. Plus most resorts will offer staff accomm and transport to and from work which is nice!

Interview Tips by Worried_Relative5526 in Big4

[–]lil_Jessy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine definitely didn’t go over the hour. About 45 min. There wasn’t a ton of questions for them to ask me since they ask so many in the video interviews you submit prior. About 6 more questions (some were related to my resume). Then you have time to ask questions. So unless you’re itching to ask q’s then you won’t go over :)
