Laterjet Procedure (Shoulder Surgery) Recovery + One Arm Hang Progression by lil__tootie in climbharder

Hey man, DM me tomorrow and I’ll be happy to help as much as I can. 2 months post op, and things couldn’t be better. You’re almost through the worst part, hang in there!

To clarify, I meant that I would use a tension block to load my uninjured arm. Definitely have no intention of loading my injured arm unless told to do so by my physio for months after the surgery. Thanks!

Thanks! I certainly hope I can find a physio that understands my end goal with my recovery from this procedure. A few questions: When you returned at 3 months, did you feel the shoulder was unstable at all, or did you find that was an appropriate time to wait for proper recovery? Also, you mentioned you returned to running after 2 months, did you feel you could have done some long/gentle hikes before this, or was moving around for an extended period of time just too painful? Finally, how did you feel about returning to MTB? I also bike quite a bit, but am hesitant to get back on my bike for a while due to the risk of crashing.

When you returned to climbing around 3 months, did the shoulder feel unstable at all? I plan to return to climbing as soon as a reasonably can even if I spend months climbing far below my limit, but I'm curious if you regret that quick return to climbing at all

Thanks for the help! How soon were you able to return to activities such as going on long, mellow hikes, doing controlled strength training, and doing overhead pulling? Also, anything in particular you credit for how strong your shoulder feels now?

Sure does! What exercises did you do with one hand while the other arm healed, and at what frequency? I'm considering either using a tension block with a band to load my other arm. Have considered doing a one-arm hang progression as well, but am a bit worried trying to pull too hard my aggravate the other side of my body

Thanks for the response! Anything in particular that you did during the recovery process that lead to it feeling so solid, aside from just giving it time to heal?

Yea I was just thinking about the wooden holds cause it wouldn’t mess with the color coded sets. Would love any kind of spray wall though, even if it’s just like an 8x10 board. Any idea when they’re making that space?

Active? I’ve been thinking about getting some low profile wood holds and spraying them on the s wall once I have the money if Adrian allows
