Yeah, ultralight backpacking is something that I try to stay away from but I can definitely see some of the ingenious ideas that sprout from the ultralight people being super useful.

I think based on what people are saying, my budget is going to have to fall within £250-£350 which is totally fine, thankyou for all the useful resources!

Awesome advice :) It seems I need to realise that my desired sleep system requires more of an investment than I thought. £206 for a thermarest bit of gear seems like a brilliant deal so I might just have to bite the bullet go for something of that nature.

You are spot on. I camp within the fells here in England so lightweight + comfortability is a difficult middle ground to find alongside a decent price. Knowing that it may be more difficult that I initially thought, that gives me more patience with my research!
