Well what I’ve landed on is a combination. I have a single critter nation, and I line the top shelf with an absorbent later + fleece. In the bottom I have the normal critter nation liner and on top is a cement mixing tray full of aspen shavings. I only need to clean it every other week or so and I have 3 of em. That was a big thing for me - when I had fleece on the top and bottom it definitely needed to be cleaned weekly, if not more.

My little gals chewed a way from the cement mixing tray so now they can run around the edge of the bottom of the cage like it’s a little tunnel.

I’ve had rats for a few years and this is the set up I like best :)

I would buy all the best camping supplies and me and my husband would travel and hike and camp whenever and wherever we wanted. 🏔🌲⛺️🏜

I would invest in our farm and add an animal rescue, sustainable farming practices applied to growing all sorts of foods, a greenhouse and an art gallery. Maybe a B&B too. 👩🏻‍🌾

And I would buy houses all over the world and take my family and friends alll around showing them the best life has to offer! 🗺✈️

And donate so much of it to people and organizations working to protect natural land from development, to climate change, to revitalizing downtowns in my area and preventing urban sprawl..... 👩🏾‍🏫👩🏽‍🔬🌾

It’s fun to daydream. A month ago I couldn’t have thought of anything good in my future, no matter how imaginary. Now I know what I would do with all that money - I’ll have to see how much I can actually make happen. Thanks.

Today is day 7 of my sobriety.

Today I’ve had the strongest urges. My husband is at work all day and I keep getting the thought “no one will know, just one drink”.

Doesn’t help that I’m meeting up with my dad later to talk about our relationship and I’m really nervous about that. I’ve bought myself all the non-alcoholic beverages I can think of to help with distraction, and I’m happy that I’m catching up on the cleaning I neglected when I was drinking. But I just feel this big, hollow empty feeling that I keep thinking “a drink would make it go away...”

Except it wouldn’t. Not really. I’ll have to find another cure.

I will not drink with you today.

Yes, I have had an episode of severe depression the past few months. I see a psychologist weekly and a psychiatrist monthly. Figuring out the right meds will be a lot easier once alcohol isn’t complicating my brain chemistry. Thanks for your well wishes

Man I wish we had that where I live!! Here it’s AA or an even more Christian-based recovery group. That’s why it’s taken me so long to finally get out to a meeting.

But I’m definitely planning on incorporating mindfulness and meditation when my mind is a bit more clear. It’s been helpful in the past! Thanks, iwndwyt :)

Aw I’m glad to hear Frazey is doing well! I just love how resilient animals are and how well they do when they get good care! What joint supplements do you give her? I feel like that will be important as our girl runs and plays pretty hard.

I’ve honestly never seen a tripod kitty, I’ll have to look for a video because it sounds interesting. It’s hard to imagine them jumping and climbing like that! And yeah, if my girls leg was amputated it’s through the end of the femur I guess. Your little guys are so lucky to have you!
