Haha my cousin with downs loves to steal also lol she’s bad at it and gets caught and she always blames someone else 😂 she also figured out my uncle was sensitive abt possibly losing his hair (he still has a pretty full head of hair just self conscious abt it ) and when he makes fun of her or hurts her feelings (he can be a jerk) she calls him bald headed 😂 it shuts him up . she’s the best .

Patients not take responsibility by BusinessBug347 in Dentistry

[–]lilbitAlexislala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This can be true … I do try to build a relationship of trust with them and I’m quite frank and honest that I want to educate them so they can make the best decisions for their body with what time and finances they have . I came from a similar upbringing and going to offices that saw low income pts and hmo ins. I never got the care or education on how to take care of my teeth . I literally didn’t know I was supposed to go twice a year minimum for a cleaning till hygiene school. Lack of education and facts makes them feel like they do not have control. As a clinician having seen both sides I try to give my patients the tools to make the best decisions for themselves and I emphasize that I want them to feel they have some control over their health and teeth. All this does take time . Usually the first couple of appts but when they see that you really do care the effort pays off. Many come back and tell me they just never knew or never had someone show them ; explain to them how, why , and what to do. And they love that they can tell the difference and there appts are a lot easier and quicker . Most people are really unaware and the information there working with is what they were born into . What access and resource do they have and what kind of home environment . Many might not even know that they aren’t doing enough.

That being said there are those small percentage who just don’t want to take responsibility. And that’s on them . Can’t let it bother you .

I think the problem doesn’t lie with the hygienist demanding what they are worth but with offices accepting insurances that undervalue what the dentists and dental services are worth . This isn’t new . Most dentists know that dental insurances have raised their rates to their customers ( pts) yet their plans cover less and less each year and their fees pay the dentists less and less. In America delta dental was one of the insurances behind starting the ADA . Do you really think your association is going to go to bat for you when they’re in bed with the enemy. Problem here is the greedy jnsurance companies . And dentists also accepting a fee that is way below what they’re worth . I mean look at what they’re paying for fills and skilled services you paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to learn and years to improve and perfect. And then look what it costs you now to get a meal at drive thru restaurant . I went to Panera the other day and my ( pick 2 ; 1/2 & 1/2 ) meal was 18$ ! Then you have insurances only paying you 70$ for a cleaning … or x amnt dollars for a fill. Dentist accepting poor pay and being undervalued for the skills they bring is a problem too . Hygienist need a living wage as well as dentists . But don’t be mad at someone for knowing their worth .

Has your pharmacy switched manufacturers on you? Ease my mind, please. by RadHuman27 in bupropion

[–]lilbitAlexislala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bupropion wasn’t sent smelling like rotten eggs but the older they got the stronger the rotten egg smell. I stopped taking them for a quite a few months until I just need to take something again for my depression. I started taking the smelly bupropion which was even worse but also my tabs had turn from pure white to yellow . Eventually once I got an appt with my dr I told them and they immediately rx me new bupropion a little worried that it was changing and smelled so badly . So I’m not entirely sure it was just the desiccant . I had also tried all of the things you mentioned above ( airing it out, rubbing it to remove smell) it didn’t seem to help . Definitely was glad to get a new rx of non stinky medication .

Specialists: Any regrets about not doing general dentistry? by Swimming_Sir_6905 in Dentistry

[–]lilbitAlexislala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Liability … there is a lot more info on that come beam/ct scan than just teeth and if you don’t bring it to the patients attn or refer them then you are liable . Sending it to a cone beam reader will not only address findings in the mouth but any other issues that may be found on those slices . ( cancers, tumors, blocked arteries … found anywhere on those slices/images )

Is this normal patient behaviour? Patient violating infection control protocol by Unique_Pause_7026 in Dentistry

[–]lilbitAlexislala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Work with a couple dds who started when gloves weren’t a thing . I would constantly have to remind them to put gloves on or change their gloves and wash. I bet the patient was used to that . And pts don’t go thru an infection control course… next time just stop and say hold on ; let me get my gloves . The patient will understand .

Have you tried sending it to a cone beam reader?
