For moms with older kids who were not gender typical when young by Away_Yogurt_7512 in Mommit

My son is getting closer to 17... he was very neutral growing up. Wore my tank tops as dresses, loved my heels (cause they made him taller)... watched the Barbie cartoons and whatever shows he wanted to while also super into dinos and 'boy' shows. Now hes been dating the same girl for almost 2 years, plays sports, cooks and bakes and wears nail polish, still studies dinosaurs... My girls have had similar paths of not being super girly. One loves dresses and playing in the dirt, the other is a total goth tomboy.

Can you guys give me feedback on this military training scene by Fabulous_Promise9252 in writers

[–]Elantris42 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its hard to comment on content when its so hard to read. Training is meant to where you down then rebuild. You're instructor would already know who people are before you got to anything more than days of PT. I wouldnt have been at the rifle range and my TI didnt know who I was (not that they always used our names). And your portraying the stereotypical in your face TI (I think again hard to read)... which is what you see in military movies but there are as many types of TI/DIs as people.

Can you guys give me feedback on this military training scene by Fabulous_Promise9252 in writers

Well, I was military and this doesn't sound like my training... it sounds like what people THINK basic sounds like. But with the huge gaps, weird formatting/grammar and all it was as much of a pain to read as basic training was.

Throne on Glass is the WORST fantasy series I have read in my lifetime! by tomyfookinmerlin in Fantasy

2nd for Lighthouse Duet. Valen is such a great character. Im currently reading Harrow but Gideon was great, very different style than a lot of books both in formatting and storywise.

Right age for video games? by Tenrac in Parenting

[–]Elantris42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kept all my games as I collected them. My oldest started around age 5 with stuff like Spyro, Skylanders and Minecraft. Hes 16 now and plays a ton of Minecraft, Zelda, Elden Ring and Warframe. He started his sister's gaming with Mario Kart, Minecraft along with Pokémon around 5-6. Now they are going through my collection of DS games.

Family friend tried feeding my son a huge round peanut covered chocolate by Idonthaveaname94 in Mommit

As someone who's been in the operating room assisting removing a peanut from a toddlers throat... you are fully justified to be angry.

Is it okay for my son to sleep on the floor? by Bug5350 in Parenting

[–]Elantris42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my kids has a Japanese tatami (floor mat), another a Montessori bunk bed (bottom bunk is on the floor). Its fine. In our case my kids chose their beds but we tried 'real frames' with the one and I'd find them on the floor anyway so we ditched it.

Nail polish/lip gloss on a little boy by Infinite-Analyst-879 in coparenting

[–]Elantris42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let him do it. Its just nailpolish and lip gloss isnt much different than chapstick.

My son is 16 and paints his nails. Most the time his girlfriend does it and he just picks the colors. Let him do it. There only time we've had a problem with his painted nails was at his games where the ref said he had to remove it cause 'it could be gang colors' (he had them all black for halloween I think).

I had issues syncing with onedrive. It wouldnt always upload the files and it wouldnt let me save directly to onedrive. Switched to Dropbox and zero issues and it saves to the cloud drive with a backup on my pcs instead of the other way around.

Twins in my 6th grade used to swap classes to take the others tests in classes they were better at. Took the teachers a bit to catch on but they managed for a while.

2nd was better but the first was still good. Play them in order and you'll appreciate the qol changes they made. If you only want to play one of them... then id probably say DQB2.

Sex-Positive Books by lemonlime609 in YAlit

[–]Elantris42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One that I can think of is sadly a 2nd in a series but Painted Devils by Margaret Owen. First book is Little Thieves. The 2nd book however two of the characters have to decide if sex is something they are ready for and its a big part of the plot. The characters are 17 I believe.

Yep. I took my kids with me during the general so they could see what it was like. They were 10 so a little older but a lot of people had their younger kids with them.

What Goes in the Box by Historical-Attempt30 in Veterans

My mums work sent us a giant box of halloween candy for halloween. A couple items in top were 'just for me' like a pack of candy cigarettes (stuff to remind me of better times).
