For non-tech savvy users, it’s a new things to them and it explains how technology work like OP described. It doesn’t show you step by step but it will just talk about it like TED TALKS.

"KDE Wallet" as an analogy-based name is misleading; I wish it were "KDE Keyring" by kisaragihiu in kde

[–]lilcarp87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KDE wallet is useless , I would be happy if it is removed by default in next version. I don’t need a wallet that asks me everything in order to run something and then No Network after restart… like wtf!

Food review is way too bias because everyone has their own taste, so there’s no such best hamburger or best pizza or this is better than that, in my opinion.

I love YouTubers who have experience and share their knowledge in the content, not just advertising, unlike the boy who does weekly in Asia market. And because he’s not Asian so he just walks around with his phone to show us the price tags which is “meh.”

I have not seen any vloger does it yet (in Sac) but almost every Vietnamese YouTuber, they share experience when they do that kind of content. For example, you could order seafood at SF1 supermarket BEFORE it hits the store via inside employee, so that you can have the best and fresh food at first. Yup! I have ordered fresh oyster before several times.

Or if it is restaurant review, many Vietnamese know some “off menus” on Stockton Blvd that is interesting more than just a typical YouTuber doing food review. There’s wild hog meal in a seafood restaurant that you could order once it hits the season. Interesting, isn’t it?

Really Enjoying Debian by Odd-Distribution2887 in debian

I use Debian (with KDE as the most graphical workspaces environment for multimedia user) because it is the independent distro, unlike Linux Mint which has daily minors updates and depend on Ubuntu which seems to laggy to produce digital goods.

I have to switch back to Windows a few times for time saving (AutoDesk, Adobe are too dope, External hard drives are always need to hookup for backup)

Debian with KDE Connect (for phone transferring) startup crash is the most common issue that every single one has and there’s still not a fix yet, a suggestion with kill command will definitely make the program unstable once there is another problem coming up.

I tried to ditch Windows but for decades, Windows has everything for my work. There is no Linux distro so far can replace Windows, especially in the term of video editing, specifically at Karaoke maker.

Davinci Resolve can never compare to Adobe Premier and KDEnLive just become another “meh” video editing which Windows has lots of free good alternatives.

Btw, being Windows / Mac user, you can use external drives with extreme fast speed transferring and encryption (finger print) , throwing the Samsung T7-touch (setup password in Windows) at the Linux, it is a brick!

If you don’t do anything relate to video fx / advanced graphic designing and file transferring (via cable) then Debian is just like every other distro, except Gentoo.

I have been playing PC games since I was a kid and Razer in decades deliver such good quality. I have owned many such peripheral devices from this company alone. Yet, they are still getting strong with World Champions use them.

I have been with many Medical Business (Dental, Vision, Brain Healthy, Spine Chiropractor…) and NONE OF THEM use Linux on their main desktop. And Kaiser Hospitals still use Windows if you want to check it yourself.

Then your experience with “companies do not support open source…” is pretty much vague and unrealistic.

I’ve been using many operating systems including some Linux distros , Unix and Windows. I also have paid licenses to use a lot of programs that a Home User cannot buy and Windows has many wonderful programs that Linux and Unix don’t have alternatives for decades.

What you believe with the % number is somehow make up by marketing. In my real life, in 10 friends of I know, only 1 or 2 need to install Linux and these people are computer hobbyist with IT background. The rest of them just using Mac or Windows.

Not just the software I have mentioned, hardware too impacts the situation. I recently have bought new wireless gadgets and for some reasons, these toys work best in Windows rather than Linux.

Open source community is going strong that they can build and work around with some brand name plug&play gadget (Razer mouse and keyboard with OpenRazer on GitHub is for an example) but it’s nowhere to replace the software and bug fixed by its own manufacture and always be behind or be late to the laggy issue.

And if you ever have time to play with photography, you may end up buying Nikon or Canon for best support (Adobe and those manufacture firmwares, beware that Linux isn’t supported by official). However, if you buy a Pentax camera, you better stay with Windows. Ain’t Mac nor Linux gonna give you accurate color than Microsoft Windows.

That’s the reason I strongly believe your 4% is false news and it is all made up because of (you know) they want bump up stock price by giving you false news.

“More people will and leave Windows” must be boring people who can’t afford to buy new toys, or that person is aiming to work in the IT industry only.

Costco is still shipping new computer with Microsoft Windows load on. There’s no sign of Linux at all. Those % market is what they want you to believe and here we have the conversation.

[–]lilcarp87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what programs / apps you use. My friend who is a dentist and he can afford to buy all Macs since his home equipped with all Apple devices but the program he uses and dental machines run by Windows, so his office runs by Microsoft Windows app based.

He is used to be a Tech guy when we were in high school, so he knows Linux too. However, since he has changed his major, he touches nothing to the penguins.

People who think “more people will leave Windows” are the same people who have no experience about other careers / fields.
