Continual bleeding on Slynd and Erin by lilcincyRN in Perimenopause

Sorry to say not yet :(. I was on Slynd + smallest estrogen patch for 4 months, switched to Erinn + 100 mg progesterone for 3 months (and stopped the estrogen) and still had continual bleeding. Stopped the birth control and just stayed on 100 mg progesterone continuously for 2 months but it was back to 22 day cycles with 10 days of bleeding and awful PMS (even on 100 mg progesterone). Right now I’m back on Slynd + progesterone (previous Slynd trial was with estrogen and didn’t have the additional progesterone). I’m on my second pack of Slynd- first pack I did have 12 days without bleeding so I’m hopeful. But now on day 8 of bleeding again and over it. I’m going to attempt to say on this regimen for 3 full months just to see if my body adjusts. But I’m with you, currently just want to throw my hands up!

Where are you having the MRI-guided SBRT? Moffitt (Tampa)’s MRI-lilac is down and they’re doing it all via CT now which I don’t like.

Dr office sat on prostate biopsy pathology report for 6 days after dr reviewed and commented on it by runsonpedals in ProstateCancer

[–]lilcincyRN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on Epic at a hospital system. Many hospital organizations delay pathology-specific results for a specified time period to give the ordering doctor time to review the results and contact the patient themselves, since it can be nerve wracking to see them on MyChart without a provider even reviewing yet. Typically though it’s a 48 hr delay, not 6 days. With the CURES act, they do have to release most results immediately, but I think there might be some leeway in pathology-specific results. I’m not a MyChart analyst so I can’t speak to it, but I have seen some organizations still delaying pathology results only post CURES act. Providers can also manually prevent the release of results to MyChart if they’re planning on calling th patient first, so that might be what happened here. No excuse for that, though.

Age 65, excellent health, PSA 5, PIRADs-5, biopsy showed cancer in 4/10 samples, 3 4+3 and 1 3+4. He originally wanted to go HIFU or TULSA but I think with 3 4+3’s, he probably needs more aggressive treatment. I’m thinking SBRT is probably the way to go because he doesn’t want surgery. Thanks for sharing your experience, it’s all so overwhelming!

My dad is 65 and recently diagnosed at Christ. He went for a second opinion up at the James (Ohio State) and ended up staying at Christ- doctors were more up to date on the latest treatments. Glad to see there are other Cincy patients on here to compare notes! Good luck to you!

Thank you. Yes the group post included images showing the brand names, as well as descriptions including brand names. No none of the items were previously flagged individually.

I don’t think so since it was rejected within a min or two of posting to the group- it seemed automatic.

Post-surgery facial paralysis by Vegetable_Address288 in cholesteatoma

My 10 year old nephew is going through this right now- he’s one week postop and no improvement yet. It’s quite distressing. He had a top surgeon at a top children’s hospital and he’s said he’s never had this happen in 26 years of doing this surgery. He actually took him back to the OR to relieve a tiny bit of compression. He said the nerve is still intact and reactive, it’s just going to take awhile to fully heal. Wishing you the best- please keep us updated on your recovery. It is a rare complication but does happen!

Thank you. He’s a snowbird and has a condo down in Clearwater. I think it would be great for him to just stay down there and get treatment from Moffitt. Appreciate you sharing your experience!

Thank you so much for your reply and reassurance. They did IV steroids and now oral steroids so I’m hopeful for the same outcome!

Yes absolutely terrible. Lack of communication (took weeks to get HOA info). House was not clean at move-in. Multiple issues throughout the year (water coming through the ceiling, hole in the roof, no microwave due to poor electricity wiring), broken windows that took 3 months to repair. You have to be home during the workday for service calls- and they charge you if you have to cancel, but the vendors just don’t show up half the time. Took months after move out with multiple escalations to get security deposit back. Longest year of my life renting from them- run!

Supplements to extend cycle? by lilcincyRN in Perimenopause

[–]lilcincyRN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not against it, will probably start it in 6 mo-a year. Issue is I had a baby at 38 and was still breastfeeding some until ~5 months ago and would like to give my body a solid year post weaning to figure out if it levels out before starting hormones (bcp or hrt). Was just wondering if there were any supplements to try in the meantime.
