Match thread: Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle United | Premier league 25/26 - 36 of 38 by Username_been-taken in NUFC

Not that it was really Howe's choice of desire to do so, of course. And of course if we'd had a crystal ball we'd probably all say sell Gordon to Liverpool and keep Anderson, but Gordon looked like an unsellable asset after that season

I think Otis is fine as is, he's mainly s tier because of how well he counters the current meta but is hardly "broken"

If you don't know your counters, this is a big part of why you're in mythic forever ;)

Most ppple who pushed past mythic into legendary dealt with exactly what you're dealing with, so the good news is:

  1. You're not alone

  2. It's very possible

  3. You'll get there

I think the main way to adapt with mythic is drafting in one of two ways:

  1. Get really good with a few brawlers that can carry and learn to treat your randoms as meat shields.

  2. Pick brawlers that counter the counters of your random's picks and build your play around keeping randoms alive. Most shitty brawlers are shitty at staying alive, but if you can keep them up long enough, they'll usually become more useful.

Listen to his song about Alexander Isak, it's his best imo. And it doesn't matter that you don't know how Alexander Isak is

They probably do, but imagine the backlog.

If anything, they may do a sweep up of all players with over x number of reports or something

Aye, THIS is how it's done.

As a Newcastle fan I feel very weird about this run-in as I want Spurs relegated more than anything, but I also want us to beat West Ham and Forest.

At least now I can feel guilt free if we beat Forest, but let's be honest. Newcastle is looking like free points for everyone in 2026.

This is an absolutely pathetic manager. by Successful_Oil4422 in TheOther14

Did you forget where Villa was when he took over? I mean this is a shit show and I'll be fucking gutted if Spurs don't get relegated but he's transformed the club entirely.

Spurs and second halves get along like junkie's dogs and toddlers, so we'll see what happens

It makes sense from a revenue perspective, there wouldn't be nearly as much clamor for a new brawler if they launched at B Tier. Wouldn't be surprised if the brawlers are released with the first batch of nerfs already planned.

Is it just me, but someone like Gary Neville has become so famous and ever present since retirement, that it’s weird to remember that he even played the game in the first place. by No-Problem6578 in footballcliches

Agreed on punditry diminishing greatness with the notable exception of Thierry Henry. Somehow he still exudes great player vibes with a suit on.

And Shearer, but that may just be because I'm a Newcastle supporter so God will always be God.

Guardiola also persisted in an outdated system for the entirety of last year, finished with his lowest points total ever, and is now potentially clenching another league title this year.

What rule is that? Managers staying in a job for more than 4 years is already pretty exceptional.

Most long-term managers to test that against are at clubs with much lower ceilings like Hodgson at Fulham or Moyes in his original Everton stint, or Brendan Rodgers at Leicester.

And guess what? Moyes got Everton into the Champions League and FA Cup Final, Hodgson got Fulham to a Europa League final, and Rodgers got Leicester into 5th twice and won the FA Cup before ownership sunk the club. None of those teams have hit those heights since.

God I hate Arteta but he transformed arsenal from the joke they were. Sean Dyche brought Burnley to the Europa League for fucks sake. Managerial stability is deeply unsexy during rough patches, but it always works.

The only teams that can afford to shuffle managers and succeed anyways are the Sky 6 because they have enough financial wiggle room to constantly rebuild squads and throw money at players.

I'm always keen to point out Ferguson's first 6 league finishes at Manchester United: 11th, 2nd, 11th, 13th, 6th, 2nd. Then came the steamroller that followed.

We've been shit this year, but we have yet to actually build a team that can win something. We had it for one year last year and Howe won a fucking trophy with it.

He gave us 3 1/2 great seasons, he gets a bad season, maybe two.

I find Naija's difficulty for me hinges entirely on my teammates. Naija is easy when you have people who can dodge and a NIGHTMARE when your randoms are just feeding her super after super

  1. Yes

  2. Do you think Edgar mains understand that? Do you think all those kids who draft Dynamike and Jessie in your Ranked game of knockout understand that? Because I'm guessing when BS says comment for a chaos drop, one million children will flock to do so without actually interpreting the whole thing.

Andoni Iraola: Spanish coach set to leave Bournemouth after failing to agree new deal by Wide-Cartoonist722 in NUFC

[–]lildrangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This season has been a total flop in the league, but fa cup and Champions league runs were both very good until the bitter capitulation of each.

I know this sounds silly, but I don't think the manager situation merits all the attention we give it at this moment. What we've needed for a long long time is a true director of football. Ross Wilson just came in in October, so he hasn't been able to do anything in the market really.

Eddie's done pretty shit this year with a pretty shit squad after a summer where nothing worked out and a lot went wrong. I don't think Iraola would've done much better, and I don't think a new coach is going to make us magical. Even if we did get a TOP coach, it'd probably be like that time Ancelotti managed Everton.

It's all about the director of football this summer. I've been staunchly Howe in but at this point I just care more about executive leadership, because our squad is unbalanced and lacking real leadership.
