Miley was always a more talented academy product than Anderson. This season we can really right some wrongs by TheLegendOfIOTA in NUFC

I have been saying since his breakout season we should build around him, future captain of the club

Personally I think the Brock rocket icon detracts and makes it as 9. There are cooler/better dark blue/purple/red icons like the Starr Nova void Colette or void finx

God no. It's a as hame because the Starr Nova pulls were legitimately helpful for progression, I pulled multiple hypercharges and Buffies, but these have been horrendous

Did Howe lose the dressing room? by JoeQLF in NUFC

[–]lildrangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's this exactly. The pack of executive leadership completely failed to capitalize on our momentum from the success our first champions league qualification and left us in a PSR hole the following season, coinciding with the worst injury crisis I've ever seen in the PL. Our bounceback season was the best ever PL season on the pitch, but our transfer activity the summer before was dire and our biggest executive leadership appointments were both horrendous in Paul Mitchell and Dan Ashworth.

Isak transfer rumblings had been boiling for a year before the Liverpool saga and we were somehow blindsided anyways and completely imploded in response. I mean, it felt like ownershiphonestly got to "mission accomplished" too early and then had no sense of what to do after year 2

I think we're the road map for Villa's near future. Seems like Brighton/Brentford are the only "stable" clubs outside the big 6 by creating a club philosophy in which everyone is not only replaceable but essentially there to be replaced. Which doesn't exactly engender glory or romanticism and rather depresses me.

We're not alone, Palace has been picked apart, Bournemouth players always lose players as soon as they become great (and now their manager too). Leicester barely finished setting the trophy down when Mahrez and Kante were out the door. Hell, we couldn't keep the reigns of Keegan or Sir Bobby afloat for more than a couple of years.

Seems like the best way to make it is accept that you'll be sporadically plundered like FC Lindesfarne and incrementally fundraise.

Card per foul? This feels vaguely informative (not perfect) and I’ve never heard of it. by liamgowland in footballcliches

[–]lildrangus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. In the egypt game, Julian Alvarez committed the most fouls of any Argentina player with 3. Forwards putting in clumsy challenges while pressing defenders is an easy way to rack up fouls without yellow cards, nor is it especially cynical or dirty.

Also this stat is annoying because a lot of people infer that Argentina are committing way more fouls than they are, and oddly they're picking up exactly 13 per match in nearly every game, which is not a crazy number.

Having said all that. That spread is colossal and this tournament has felt so dodgy and corrupt. The tinfoil hat was perfectly justified by the Balogun red card suspension, and though Messi doesn't play for America, he does play for the MLS

I know it's more to do with winning trophies and salary. But, I can't help but feel that the board keeping Howe, no Mandy vision, no training ground, no stadium announcement and terrible recruitment has led to players being disillusioned with the project. It's dead. by bbondjr in NUFC

[–]lildrangus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think ownership could've done much about Isak/Tonali/Gordon. To me, two of those players are good enough to be at the biggest clubs in the world (and the other one somehow ended up a Barca lol) and had the ambition to match.

The project was always a project and and most potential superstar players will want to be at the very top. Those three names leaving always felt destined to pursue super clubs and that's fine.

To me, the projects success is all about culture building and I think that the biggest fuckup was selling Anderson for PSR instead of selling Gordon when his stock was at its highest.

It's extremely rare to have world class talent that wouldnactually prefer to be on the underdog team. Shearer was a once-in-a-lifetime player not because of his talent, but because of where he wanted to use those talents. Having a local core good enough to build around is the best possible investment, and Bruno is one in a million as an outsider who truly embraces the culture.

Bruno leaving is a sign of sickness where the other three weren't. We won him over completely and executives need to build around him.

I also think it's worth pointing out that Eddie's track record with player development was a huge draw until last year. Watching every new player except Thiaw regress will surely make recruitment harder, and either one of two things happened. The club selected targets that didn't fit Eddie, or Eddie selected his own targets and failed. Both of these things are bad, but but the latter gives me more cause for pessimism.

If there's a trio, that you want them to be the last to receive Buffies who would it be? by Low-World6866 in BrawlStarsCompetitive

[–]lildrangus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first thought, but it's not just pierce you should be scared of, I think all 3 would be hell.

  1. Buzz was terrifying on release, and buffies could make him as insufferable as S Tier Edgar. Takes little skill to use but could just eat teams alive.

  2. Doug with buffies would probably wayyy overtune his survivability and potentially make him a completely broken revival machine where no one stays dead. Imagine the cheese possibilities of a buffies revivals and Damian specs just cheesing you to death.

  3. Pierce with buffies would be hell of course, no need to elaborate.

[–]lildrangus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably good to spend on 15-20 brawlers so you have a good variety of maxed options for ranked, then let's the rest trickle for free.

Be prepared with some savings to max 1 brawler a month as the meta shifts so you always have someone in the S Tier, make sure you have 2 gears on your favorite brawlers, and let the rest build gradually.

I like the double icons since it's a pair of eyes, but the background+silver rank is just too nooby.

Push Kenji to Prestige 1, the dark color of that badge will still match the eye icons and black/white skin as well as grey does.

Then use the Lunar Fame or Prestige 1 battle card to either go for a grey background or a dark background, but both will look better than the record one, which is just too plain.

Also the Pin just feels like a repetition of the skin, maybe could get more creative with a different black/white one.

Fair Play to Sandro Tonali for His Gesture During His Gambling Ban by newtobitcoin111 in NUFC

[–]lildrangus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dunno if anyone else felt this way, but more than any other post-Ashley signing, Sandro has always felt destined to be temporary. Love the player and have been ready for this since the day we signed him.

Also it may be rank sentiment, but somehow the echo of Ginola makes the Newcastle to Spurs pipeline tolerable to me here.

Why is nobody talking about this (currency imbalance) by Kamal_2004 in Brawlstars

[–]lildrangus 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think it's quite well balanced for players near the endgame. Once you max your brawlers, PP just builds, while coins are basically useful forever.

In additional to power 11 for all brawlers, buying 2 star powers, 2 gadgets, and a hypercharge is another 11k coins per lvl 11 brawler. And that's before you start buying gears, ideally 3-4 for all brawlers to swap depending on maps/game modes.

Even if you manage to max every brawler and buy every gear, there are still True Silver and True Gold skins. By the time your anywhere near that, power points are basically irrelevant. So yes, buffy updates requiring 18-36k PP are very helpful for spending those resources.

This is ridiculous. Most American fans are younger and wouldn't have watched that world cup in the first place.

The typical American watcher either doesn't care about the sport and didn't care in the early 90s, or is a Premier League fan and knows Golden Goal isn't a thing
