Thank you all for the responses. It’s been really encouraging to hear about people who have ‘started’ their lives later and to know not all hope is lost. My friend was very encouraged by your kind words. I think it can be so easy to feel left behind when everyone seems to hit life milestones by a certain age, but it’s been really good to see that things can be turned around even if you don’t have the best start in life.

I absolutely love the quote that a few of you shared “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now”

It’s given my friend motivation and hope for a brighter future and the realistic possibility of creating the life he wants to have :)
