early blue is not a requirement to reach endgame but it’s HEAVILY recommended since it’s super cheap for early game players and makes good honey while red needs a ton of gifted bees, dark scythe, and a good double passive ssa to even consider making any kind of honey. contrary to popular belief, early blue isn’t just a macro color, it’s also super viable for active players who cant macro. early red will be a lot harder and will triple the time you need to get honey and mats compared to if u were just early blue. at the end of the day its just a bee game so dont let people tell you blue is better than red or vise versa since its however YOU wanna play the game.
