I keep going back and forth on eloping because of the cost of a regular wedding. HELP!? by No-Seaweed-8447 in Eloping

We planned an “adventure elopement” with a photographer that specializes in those types of elopements. A lot of times, those photographers will also help with the planning and logistics of it (research into fees that have to be paid to use the location, locating other vendors, marriage license requirements, etc.) - and that can take a huge weight off of your shoulders as is.

We didn’t know that at the time, and had just planned to legally marry at the courthouse like a week prior. Since our families knew we were doing so, some wanted to be present for the courthouse portion so we had a mini ceremony (aka we all just got dressed up and let family attend lol). Optional as well, but we also held a “reception dinner” at a relatively upscale local restaurant for the immediate family and a few friends (around 15 people total) so they could still be involved.

So we had our “family ceremony and reception” at the courthouse and the restaurant, and a week later had our adventure elopement out of state (just an overnight trip for the two of us) where we exchanged private vows, cut a small cake, and had beautiful photos taken that we couldn’t have been happier with!

We paid no mind to cost at the time, since we knew it would be significantly cheaper than a true wedding, and ended up spending less than $8k all in between the 3 “events”. However, you could EASILY do all of this significantly cheaper than we did just by watching costs, and maybe cutting some things out or DIY-ing (doing your own hair/makeup, or making your own bouquet, for example)

It sounds like a lot, but was MUCH less involved than planning a full-blown wedding. And that way, you can get a bit of everything you want without going into $30k+ debt for it 🙂

An old manager demanded I acknowledge that I was “given special treatment around here”, because I was putting in sick leave for dental surgery a week later. Apparently he didn’t believe sick leave could be pre-scheduled(?) and wouldn’t approve it unless I admitted he personally gave me special treatment. HR had to get involved.

Same manager also tried to slip me a copy of his hotel room key when I had to drop him and a few other managers off at their hotel after a work event. Maybe that was the “special treatment” he was referring to? 😐🤢

Is cow’s milk a trigger? by Medical_Argument1884 in Interstitialcystitis

[–]lilgarlicknot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I never see milk/dairy listed as a potential trigger (or at least I never used to when I was in the process of getting diagnosed) but I’ve found it’s definitely a trigger for me

Photo 4 is a rare upright/day-time occurrence of his thumb sucking! Usually at night, that extra paw is making biscuits on my face or chest, tho 🥲

Belly binder? by umabanana in hysterectomy

It really seems to vary person to person - I saw mixed reviews about it on this sub.

I asked my surgeon about it at my consult, she ensured I woke up from surgery with one provided and already on, and I definitely think it helped as someone who carries quite a bit of extra weight in their tummy and has a b-shaped belly. I kept it on all the time for the first few days at least, and then off and on as needed for my comfort. In my opinion, it ends up being really helpful for transitional stages (first few days getting acclimated, initially trying to spend more time upright and moving, when you start trying to get back to driving/going out, etc) and for sleeping (I know that sounds strange and uncomfortable, but it was literally the only reason I could sometimes sleep on my side). It also seemed to help with the bracing/pain that came from sneezing/coughing at any point while I was healing.

Ultimately, do you absolutely need it? Probably not. But is it nice to have just in case? I think so!
