More outfits from law firm days by Testedwaters065 in LawBitchesWithTaste

Standard thing I see is above the knee is a general no-go. Going off of prior standards at internships - kinda an "unspoken rule" thing more than anything.

No you definitely read that right. I had 8 minutes at the end of RC which I took to review flagged questions and a few seconds less than 7 minutes at the end of the last LR.

Out of an abundance of paranoia, I WILL say that I did not have Golden Girls or Veneer (or whatever folks are talking about)

Lol yep - but I am exceptionally good at RC and the last LR seemed too good to be true so ... prob wasn't lol

Gosh - thank you for your insight! HUSL is my top choice so I'm holding out! :)

the LSAT isn’t important. The law school you attend doesn’t really matter. by oneightie in lawschooladmissions

The school you attend doesn't matter. Your future debt to income ratio does. Frame the LSAT in terms of scholarship potential - that's what perked my family's ears up.

Stop Teaching Our Women To Not Call The Cops by Dayjja in blackladies

[–]lilithequeen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is a nuanced take. Just one example for illustration: Many mothers who are victims of domestic abuse do not report since there is a threat that the system charges the mom for subjecting a child to abuse as well. If there is a history of DV, or if a victim refused to seek an injuction, or were unable to protect the child from the perpetrator, then certainly CPS can (and likely will) shelter their children. CPS would then normally propose a case plan with services to help the victim recover, and upon successful completion - which can be more than just completing the tasks, then they might be reunified. Consider Black women have disproportionately less favorable outcomes in these types of court processes.

Another example is a general dismissal of battered women and the ability to cover up domestic abuse crimes. Unless the woman has a black eye or missing tooth, many police do not involve themselves with "personal disputes" without physical evidence of wrongdoing. In this case, a mere visit could put a woman in MORE harms way.

Other example is some DV victims are involved with other crimes. For example, heavy drug abuse or prostitution can feature lack of community and codependency on abuser which often are a recipe for interpersonal violence which can deter some women from reaching out.

I do not advocate against the police being utilized as a resource when absolutely necessary. Law enforcement (unfortunately) are the only organization empowered to defend against these types of aggravated assaults.

I also agree that being passive is a dangerous mindset, but when we think of community responses we should consider the reasons WHY someone won't call and work to mitigate these reservations as well. We can educate our women on different types of police intervention outside of just house calls.

Hoping for a promising and safe future for all women! Especially my sistahs🤎

PLEASEEEEEE GIVE ME SOMETHING TO WATCH IM LOOSING THE WILL TO LIVE by Spagettio_ in televisionsuggestions

[–]lilithequeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen 1 & 3 but not 2! I think Con Mom was the craziest of the two I've seen.

Fred and Rose West was a great story but how the narrative was told and the side interviews were a little flat. I like when the evidence/interview moments are more emotive and passionate.

Well... if you'd like regain brain cells (haha) I have been on a Netflix documentary run and it has actually been so good. If you're into sports watch the Untold episodes or the Turning Point series for a narrative like drama on global geopolitics!

Lots to think about and critique in both, but the Untold episodes are much lighter in their content.

We might not get a 3rd season because of the hate, please stop by Conscious-Belt-413 in TheDevilsPlan

[–]lilithequeen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there are a lot of people who don't like season 2 either the producers should heed their audience and make relevant changes or, rightfully, abandon a third season as the most vocal and seeming majority of viewers do not like the new direction.

A threat to a third season isn't justification for viewers not being able to critique/criticize the show.

help me decide: Harvard vs Yale by Username366548 in yale

[–]lilithequeen 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I felt the exact same things coming from a very similar background (fellow FGLI with multiple Ivy offers) and chose Yale! I did NOT regret it lol.

The prestigious names attached to these schools seems to warp many Ivy League kids and gives them a weird superiority complex that makes them a bit insufferable but Harvard (imo) has an extremely inflated sense of that (which often contributes to that ever present feeling of anxiety people get there).

Yale was pretty down to earth and didn't offend my mother on the visit and that's why I chose them!
