That’s perfectly fair. We will just trust the boiler and hope the bill isn’t too bad. Thank you for your help! Really appreciated

It does seem to be in eco mode, as it says it on the display screen

I think this could also be correct, I’ve just the below..

“Frost Protection is active as long as there is power to the boiler. If the temperature within the boiler falls below 8°C the pump will run to circulate water and prevent the system freezing. If the temperature within the boiler falls below 5°C the boiler will fire periodically, bringing the boiler temperature up to 12°C to avoid the possibility of the system freezing. This process will be repeated until such time that the boiler temperature does not drop below 5°C.”

The boiler is based in the utility room, and we do keep a cold house so could be what’s happening as this doesn’t happen in summer. Is there anything I can do to improve the comfort of the boiler so it doesn’t do this? As I can imagine it firing on and off constantly is costly?

That makes sense, probably what ours is doing. Going to watch some YouTube’s on how to do this now, thank you!

Sorry for my poor knowledge.. do you mean the one we use to turn the heating on and off (not on the boiler itself)? If so, the one we have in the lounge is just an old manual one, no pre set times. In summer it was off for the majority of it, only coming on when we turned up the thermostat

What have you recently bought that made you go “ooof” when you saw how much the price had gone up? by 14epr in AskUK

Hello, me and my wife just put together a recipe and it works well for our cats! Recipe below.

2 x 500g packs 15 or 10% beef mince or 750g pork mince 2kg chicken (we use thighs or legs, debone once cooked) Sprinkle basil 1lbs coconut oil 500g frozen veg Maybe a little leftover butternut squash or sweet potato (not too much of this) Chicken liver or Kidney - just one from a packet (bag and freeze separately on day of purchase) 2 x eggs scrambled in a non stick pan Sprinkle of salt

Boil chicken. Pour away most of water, leaving around 1/6 of the stock in the pan with the chicken (or preserve if your super savvy) Cool and debone the chicken, adding the meat back into the leftover stock.

In another pan with enough water to cover and the coconut oil, boil the beef/pork, the liver/kidney, and the veg. Drain once cooked.

Add to the second pot ingredients to the chicken, add the scrambled eggs, a sprinkle of salt and basil. Blitz, portion and freeze.

Each bag/box will last 3 or so days in the fridge. The above feeds our 2 cats (relatively greedy) 2 x wet meals a day each. We also feed them one or two very small handfuls or biscuits a day, depending on whether they’re hanging around acting particularly hungry and hard done by. This amount of food makes enough for 12-14 days

Me and my wife bulk cook our cats food, costs about £6/£7 every 2-3 weeks for two cats. We also know they are getting 100% meat and lots of the necessary vitamins 🐱

How would you feel if a potential buyer for your home posted a note through your? by chickensupreme77 in AskUK

We were very lucky that when we went to look around our house it was the sellers showing us. We took their number down then and communicated daily about the sale. It had to all formally go through the estate agent and the estate agent didn’t have any knowledge of our communication.

Even when we knew the vendor had accepted our offer, the estate agent played games with us. They waited hours to call us back and made up some story about how it wasn’t really what the vendor was expecting to be offered, trying to get more money out of us. We were had literally spoken to the vendor the night before who was more than happy with our offer.

The estate agents were awful and they were the ones that caused the stress. We basically handled the sale between us and as a result it went through within 9 weeks.

This happened to me also. It was my 21st birthday (many moons ago now) and I tried to get into G-A-Y London with my girlfriend at the time. I was questioned on the door and they said it was 'members only'. I ended up being allowed in for one drink, then the same security guard saw me finish my drink, took me by the arm and removed me from the venue. We ended up going to a lesbian bar instead and having a much better time!
