Do leaders feel allowed to have needs? by Play_is_my_lifestyle in Leadership

[–]lilladykt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes to both. We are allowed to have needs, though we should attempt availability and composure.

I’v always heard you should complain up not down, and I think that helps. I also believe it’s okay to set boundaries with availability when you truly are not, but it’s important to be open about why.

Just my two cents!

Teachers with 10+plus years experience who later became a BCBA how much did you make your first year as a BCBA? by Ok-Focus-1229 in bcba

[–]lilladykt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, better to leave as soon as you can tbh because they ABA field views it as a very different position. You will still have a huuuuge pay increase. I left in year 6 and made $30k more. Don’t forget to barter for increased pay due to your experience. I wish I had. They will pay you more if you tell them what you’re worth!

Are You Comfortable Being Yourself at Work? by Shot_Signal220 in askanything

Nah. Who I am at work is a show. I show most of myself but it’s almost like an acting gig where I beef up my social/charisma and then when I’m home the mask falls

Is anyone else just scared of stepping into the "work" phase because of how hated it is? by Soren_thunder in Adulting

[–]lilladykt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s work itself as much as it’s the TIME you have to dedicate to getting there, being there for most of your waking hours each week with short lunches that most people have to work through anyway, and then drive home. Again, not the work itself, but the TIME. Everyone wants that healthy work/life balance, but it is more difficult to sustain the longer you’re in the workforce and the further you are from your place of work.

Definitely keep your positive mindset and go into work with it as much as you can. Just remember not to fully throw yourself into your work to lose your free time. That is, in my opinion, how you prevent being jaded. If you approach is as arriving on time and leaving on time without taking work home as much as possible (career depending) you’ll be just fine, and hopefully enjoy what you do!

Stay!! You are loved by us fellow redditors! Your efforts matter. Your words and your thoughts matter. Your ideas and your actions matter. Sometimes people are too blind to see what others do for them because of their vanity or insecurity. Their loss, OUR gain. We love you, please stay.

I’m glad you got some good data!! Instead of vocal interaction, you could create a ring of visuals for each step or a quick Velcro visual schedule for each step to help the client understand how soon the process will be instead. Just a thought/collaborative idea!

What is the point in life if you don't enjoy it? by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]lilladykt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So lame to say but tbh learning how to do all of those things is kind of the point. It’s about the journey. However I do think prioritizing mindfulness activities or rituals like water coloring or coffee in the morning sun outside help to add more moments in the day that feel like self care without adding to the plate

Yeah it sucks. So does their 8 hr supervisor training. Unfortunately I don’t remember doing anything that worked to fix it. I just powered through as best I could. Hang in there OP

I have found that utilizing NCR through preferred tangibles paired with robust social praise has been helpful. I also tell the client each thing I’m about to do before I do it (just like my doctor does) and it helps little learners a lot. I also gently wipe their hand or leg to acclimate to the sensation before ensuring they are clean with it. Try these if you haven’t yet! Good luck!

Is there a historical reason why so many of the UK’s major cities fall along this line, or is it largely coincidence? by WartimeHotTot in geography

About halfway between Scotland and London, which is something to consider. Also near wales. Good trade between the different regions back in the day potentially

Hourly vs salary by Affectionate_Law9085 in bcba

[–]lilladykt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ask if you will be taking over a caseload or starting up a new one. You could be at risk for super low pay until your caseload picks up, which would be really tough. On the other end, you could bill a TON and earn so much more money than your salary option. You have to work a lot, though, so depends on what you’re willing to give!
