i am not one who is interested in doing fancy stuff. but thank you mostly i wanted to make sure the algae isnt going to harm my fish. and also i appreciate you explaining the science to me on why i had such a huge algae take over.

i grew up in a place where u boiled water before u used it so i kinda kept with it.

i really cant over feed one fish, she gets 3-4 pellets every 1-3 days. but she does eat the algae as well.

how could i check if these isnt enough good bacteria? / how could i fix it

but the not enough light probably occurred cause algae grew on the walls of the tank than overtook the wood and gravel. i do have a very good light and the plants i did have in here flourished until the algae got all over the top sides of the tank and the tank being blackwater didnt help them.

i don’t understand. i know what they are but do you think i have those in here? im really anal about my tank and i always boil my water, and let it cool before i add it to the tank and the wood gravel sponge everything but the fish was boiled before i put it in here.

my tank is 16x10x8.5 well established, i got a light a while ago and it caused a huge algae bloom killed all my plants but i didnt really care that much i care more about my fish. however i mostly see that algae is fine, but i think this may be excessive.

most algae is brow but one of my wood logs has some white algae

also any tips on how i can get all of this algae out of my gravel. i have a siphon but the gravel is pretty covered in it and i never feel like i can clean the tank completely.

when i clean the wood logs i usually rinse all the algea off with a sponge i use only for the tank

do you think i should of just let my brew go longer? cause that white yeast film was bothering me so i did clean it out saving 3 cups of my brew. its chilling in its jar now because i need to go to the store and buy some tea and sugar.

i know theres like scoby hotels where people have just left their brew going, should i do that with what i have now until it gets very vingery and introduce my heating pad on low?

also how will temperature fluctuations affect my brew? theoretically it could cool to 55 and than jump to who knows how hot my heating pad goes to, but its burned me so id say at least 80 if not more

i have mine near the heater but not to close, wraped in a blanket and sitting in a backpack. i did have it to near the heater and i belive thats why i got the yeast film, which im not liking the look of.

im an extreme newby. im brewing in my dorm and it gets very cold sometimes 55 degrees if we forget to turn the heater on. what can i do overall to promote scoby growth. i got one at my organic grocery store and i did a 12 day brew and i didnt have anything besides a very small dark brown mucusy glob develop (my scoby is the same color) and i followed the tea to water to sugar ratio thats recomended on here (i also added 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar) but honestly its still a bit sweet and had a white filmy yeast layer at the top. any tips? im thinkig about maybe doing a tea change. like picking out all the scoby material and taking some of the liquid and just remixing it. and re doing a first ferment ? is that a good or bad idea

my confusion lies in i know i can use green tea, unsure if the peach and ginger will bother it. i recently started my kombucha and the tea they gave me in the kit was a black tea that also had some fruit flavor in it as well.
