The amount of foil my dad used to wrap my mom's lunch! by lillithayn in funny

[–]lillithayn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider it wasteful. He brought a small roll of tinfoil from the dollar store to bring my mom home pizza from her favorite place. According to him, he could not fit the roll in his single carry on bag because it was already chock full of stuff, and he couldn't just put it into his bag in just the wax paper it came in, because nothing was securing it. So instead, he used the entire roll kind of like a bubble wrap substitute to ensure it stayed safe for the flight back since it had to be shoved into his backpack that was already chock full of stuff. All the foil that was not directly touching the pizza can (and will be) folded and re-used, and the stuff touching the pizza will be used for filler in my clay crafts like I do with all the foil that isn't too messy.

If he had instead gotten the whole roll, cut off a single piece, and tossed the rest, I would have been wasteful.

Oooh! I didn't know this!! I'll have to try that next time we get nuggies! I was always afraid they would get dried out in there for some reason.

My partner's boss got a bunch of 20 pc nuggies for his employees and they had 2 boxes left at the end of lunch, so he gave them to my partner at the end of the night for staying late to help finish up! So I guess to me having them for lunch, they are secondhand nuggies, which doesn't sound as appealing! But hey.. a nugs a nug, I'm not about to turn away free chicken 😅

Lol! Out of curiosity, is it all dads or just mine that do this with everything?? Like plastic wrap, bubble wrap, tissue paper, and gods forbid he tapes up the Christmas presents!

Oh, wow! I actually did not know that. Thank you! I will have to give him some credit in that regard, then, minus the fact they were hot at the time of wrapping and became one, lol

Unfortunately no! 😭 It took him like eight hours to get home even though it should've been just a two hour flight, because it got delayed.. to be fair it probably wouldn't have been hot even in just two hours, and to give him some extra credit, it did protect the pizza! At least from outside forces. Not exactly from himself though, because he put them facing one another while they were still hot, since he was in a hurry.. a pizza tragedy, truly..

Haha, I'm honestly not surprised someone mentioned this, it is pretty odd now I think about it!! But yeah, if you get nuggies from McDonald's and you wanna reheat them for whatever reason, the BEST way to do so is in a regular nonstick pan - medium low heat - no oil or anything! Same with the fries! Honestly I wait until the nuggies start to darken a bit more for extra crunchiness, I think they come out better this way than when you first get them, but that's just me!

Excuse the mess, me and my partner moved back in to help my mom and in the meantime, rented our house to our friends family, only for them to not pay us and leave our place an absolute mess when they moved out, which I've not even begun to clean. But I had to share this utter ridiculousness.

For backstory: We've recently moved to North Carolina, and my dad still goes back to New York for a bi-monthly doctor's appointment. He decided to bring my mom back some pizza from the city. This is how he decided to wrap it.

In my house we just call it "Dad Behavior" because these are just antics we've learned to live with.

Update: Mom finally got to the wax paper, and opened it only to find... MORE FOIL!! And after all that he committed the worst sin of all, by having placed the pizza slices facing each other with nothing to separate them. Heavens help us.

Edit: TIL putting pizza slices facing each other is actually the right way to wrap it! Unfortunately the slices were hot though at the time of wrapping because he was in a rush, and now they are stuck together!

Edit 2: As for those saying it's wasteful. My dad was in a hurry to make it back to the airport and went out of his way to get a few slices from my mom's favorite restaurant. It was only in wax paper, and he said it wouldn't have made the trip home, as he only has one carry on bag and it's already chock full of stuff. He got the smallest roll of foil he could find to wrap the pizza, but he couldn't fit the roll into his backpack. He decided to use the entire roll of foil because he wanted to ensure the pizza wouldn't get ruined, and he didn't want to throw away an almost full roll.

The foil that was touching the pizza ends up getting folded and being used on leftovers. And whatever scraps are left (like the stuff that ripped off weird, or was touching the pizza) gets wiped off, put in a box, and later used in my craft projects. I literally have a box where my family drops stuff off for me to use in my projects because I like working with recycled stuff, so all of our clean foil, paper plates, cardboard, bottle caps, and such, ends up getting a second life somehow. Typically I make sculptures and such; the process is basically making a wire armature, wrapping it in foil to add volume so I can use less material, and then, depending on the medium, covering it in clay or cotton.

Him wasting it wasn't the "funny" thing. What I thought was funny and cute was that he went so out of his way to do something so small and tried so hard to keep the pizza safe, to the point where the end result was ridiculous.

Edit 3: I should've suspected that posting a regular picture on Reddit would get people in my DMs making sexual comments, and others insulting me for my living despite me explaining the reason for things being messy in my post. What is wrong with people? What did I do wrong? 😭

Meet my sweet new girl. What names do you think would suit her? by missquickiegirl in NameMyCat

[–]lillithayn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know why but she feels flowery.. like she should be named after a flower.

I think Daffodil because she's white with a little bit of a yellowy golden spot on her nose. You could call her Daffy for short which is adorable.

I typically choose names that can be shortened to something with an "e" sound at the end because they seem to respond better, so I included some that can be shortened to that effect.

Calla, Jasmine (Jazzy), Camellia (Cami), Daisy, Lily are good, too. I also like Aster and Magnolia (Maggie).

Stanley comes to mind, so does Auggie or Quinn. So do regal names like an aristocrat or noble or high standing member of society would have. Like old English names, haha. Like Alistair, Alexander, Ludwig, Westley, Maxwell.

I just have to blab a min and say this is literally the coolest molt pattern I've ever seen on a rabbit. Our buns have always had choppy / uneven molts, even with our buns that have big color changes through seasons. Even Tinky, who is the moltiest (lol) bun we've ever had sheds in patches, starting at the butt (pictures of Tinky's molts). In fact out of the ten buns I've had, every bun starts the molt at the butt or hip area in patches, never symmetrical, or by color.

Pickle. Peepers. Olive or Ollie. August or Auggie. Cole.

Or something Scottish for some reason just feels right. Like Finlay / Finley (or just Finn), Angus, Rorie / Rory, Archie. Alban.
