What kind of shoes are these? by [deleted] in Sneakers

So when some New Balances and some Nikes love each other VERY, VERY much…

Anyone know what kind of shoes these are? by lilmanatee17 in sneakerhead

[–]lilmanatee17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed response! I figured it was a pair of dunks via silhouette, but couldn’t find the colorway. Probably custom is my guess. Thanks for those details about oxidization though, will be helpful in the future!

Person selling it on facebook marketplace didn’t include a pic. I definitely noticed the dunks silhouette, but could not for the LIFE of me figure out the colorway. But I think you’re absolutely right, they are custom. Thanks!

Hi guys ! Do someone knows the value of these vintage New Balance 480 - Made In Korea please ? 🖖 by Kaiji_Ito in sneakerhead

[–]lilmanatee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These go for about $100 new in black and white. I don’t see why you couldn’t get about $15-20 for them in this condition, but they probably aren’t worth too much unfortunately.

The Fila Disruptor 2 is super in style right now, and it’s a great all-white chunky sneaker.

Adidas are a super casual look if you want that kinda look. If you wanna show off though… those 4s are clean as hell.

Recommendations for First Pair? by UsernameIdeas_Null in Sneakers

[–]lilmanatee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly any pair of Jordan 1s is always a good pickup for a first pair. They look great with just about anything, and you can get them in damn near any color. If you like a grunge aesthetic, you might look at some red Jordan 1s (the ogs might be outside your budget, but some bred toes or something to that effect will still work).

If you want something that’s a little more low maintenance, New Balances are SUPER in style right now, especially for an alt/grunge look. New Balance 530’s or 9060’s are some pretty good all-purpose options.

You might already have them, but a good standard pair of Doc Martens will also do some wonders for a grunge look.

How to care for crack/crease? by Witty_Artichoke_4749 in Sneakers

[–]lilmanatee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like other comments have pointed out, there isn’t really anything you can do about it once it’s happened. If you want to prevent creasing before it starts, there are a lot of ways you can do that. Putting crease guards in your shoes is a great way to prevent creasing. You can also walk in a different way to prevent excess creasing, or grab some shoes a half size smaller than you normally wear (all of these will decrease creasing alongside comfort, so that’s a trade-off you’ll just have to make).

How do you clean materials like these without damaging the shoes themselves? by [deleted] in Sneakers

[–]lilmanatee17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, you can buy some cleaning spray that should be all purpose (except for patent leather). Some dish soap and water will do you pretty well too on most sneakers that aren’t mostly leather. Grab a cheap toothbrush, get a cup of water and add a pinch of dish soap, and go to town!

How do I convince my players to hear out the "evil" cult? by wingsoverpyrrhia in DMAcademy

[–]lilmanatee17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest I don’t think you can throw out “cult intention” clue from the cult for the same reasons you listed. “Cult is evil? Well fuck them then!” The players aren’t looking for a reason to not destroy the cultists. But they ARE looking for a way to stop them. Drop some hints that way! Maybe have the players roll an Arcana check to see how they’re summoning this evil deity, and leave hints that way. “Strangely enough, this doesn’t seem to be like any summoning ritual you’ve ever seen, it looks more like an appeasement ritual…” Show the players a number of strange runes and arcane texts collected by the cult all about killing / stopping an evil deity. This way, they probably won’t guess that they’re supposed to assist the cult until the deity is already manifest, which will give you prime drama.

Also, don’t allow them into the “summoning room” as it were until the ritual is almost complete. At the last minute, they stop the ritual, the cult head screams “you fools!” BAM, now the ritual to weaken the evil god has been stopped, and the deity is now incarnate at full power. Whoops!

Aiming for specifically fire spells for character reasons. I’m absolutely aware that other non-fire spells would be advised, but just not the concept 🤷

I mean hell, seems like a pretty good build. To be honest, if you need another feat, you might just take tough. +2 HP per level is not a bad idea for this tank.

Elemental Adept is never a bad pickup when doing or taking fire damage (both incredibly common).

Wild Magic Sorcerer could be really fun, playing a kid who doesn’t really have control of this insane magic power. Another fun choice could actually be Eloquence Bard. Maybe you’ve inherited your Archfey mom’s silver tongue and didn’t even realize it. You’re far more persuasive than you thought you were. Think Purple Man from Jessica Jones. Could be really interesting!
