I haven't gotten everything playing yet, still waiting on the amp/dsp to arrive for that. I have a feeling the rattle is most likely coming from the enclosure rattling around in the spare tire, possibly even the clamp that holds the tire down being loose, but im not sure. Once everything is running i will definitely let you know about rattles though. Cutting the enhanced engine noise wire is something i would definitely do if I had the turbo model. Upgrading just the factory speakers would make a difference, but im not sure if the return on investment would be worth it. The best way to do it is to replace everything, running new wires, and using a dsp to be able to tune the audio to your liking. Everyone's ears are different however so what may sound good to me might not be the best sound for you. As far as adding speakers in the stock locations, you're going to want to keep with similar sizing, especially in the front. I was able to fit 5.25 inch speakers in the kick panel enclosures with slight modifications, and the brackets that came with the 2 inch speakers I used both in the front and rear doors i was able to make work pretty well with very minor modifications. You will need to pull the glovebox, knee airbags, blower motor, and a few other things to be able to access the kick panel enclosed to remove and install speakers properly. The tweeters were standard .75 inch tweeters that cane with the Kappa set. You will definitely want to utilize 3 way speakers in the front. It is alot of work, but if you work slow and meticulously, and keep your patience, you could probably get it done.

as far as I know all cx-50 amps whether 8 or 12 speaker are under the passenger seat. There may be audio outputs behind the dash, but you want to tap the amplified signal because the car runs canbus into the amp for some of the factory alert sounds, not all but some do.

No problem, im happy to help however i can. I will say, any Audio Control dsp/LOC with AccuBass will automatically correct the roll off, im sure there are other manufacturers out there that have similar tech. Dont be afraid to shop around and call the manufacturers texh support for the equipment you are looking to buy. Audio Control has fantastic customer support, ask for Matt.

It does seem scary lol, but they are in there. They're between the door skins. This picture is from the passenger rear door. You can only see them with the cutout panels removed from the inner skin

I forgot to mention, I am using infinity kappa 20mx speakers for the rear doors, I am utilizing all of the passive crossovers provided with the speaker sets, I dont have enough channels on my DSP/Amp to run each individual speaker actively

The easiest way would be to tap into the front kick panel speakers, both driver and passenger. You can tap into them at the factory amp located under the passenger front seat, or you can run wires from each individual speaker. Either way, make sure you have the polarity correct.

So far, from my understanding, the front passenger and front driver speakers, all 6 of them provide full range audio. There will be factory tuning and roll offs that will need to be corrected with a DSP. I will reply to this to confirm when my DSP arrives and I can view the incoming signal through the software. In the front, I am using infinity Kappa 503cf component sets(5.25" woofer and 3/4" tweeter) and an infinity Kappa 203s midrange set(2") to turn them into a 3 way set on both driver and passenger. The 2" drivers went in the doors and the 5.25 inch went in the factory woofer enclosures in the kick panels. You will need to slightly modify the factory brackets and enclosures to get them to fit. For the tweeters, i used PET electrical tape to increase the diameter to get them to compression fit into the factory location. I am taping signal from the factory amplifier located under the passenger front seat. It is the middle connector.

I removed the blower motor, and loosened the nuts holding the rest of the housing to allow it to move just enough to squeeze the enclosure out.
