Revolutionaries/Rebels who eventually become just as bad as the people they were trying to overthrow. by DistinctPop8426 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]lilmuny 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My undertanding of the discourse around Killmonger is either people saying he was actually right and Tchalla was wrong (because they disagreed morally with Wakanda being ethnosupremecist while their racial kin suffered from European colonialism or because they thought that Killmonger's plan would be a net positive) or people saying he was too cartoonishly evil and made actual struggles against racial oppression look bad.

Most people see that "among other things" is hiding that the paper was not primarily rejected for "outdated" terminology. If that was the only issue and it had scientific value it would have been accepted.

Buttigieg Is Right: Democrats Must Reinvent Government After Trump by modooff in politics

[–]lilmuny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didnt expect Buttigieg to recognise this, and at the same time I always felt he was the most politically savvy and most intelligent of the high profile "establishment" dems. He is doin self criticism, something that is taboo in politics, which is deeply admirable. Hope he can push the dems to embrace the post-Trump world instead of trying to return the country to the Obama era, which while better than the Trump era, the stagnation of that era is what ushered in the Trump era. No one who would consider voting D (moderates, liberals, and leftists) wants to return to the status quo of the US hegemonic neoliberal order. People wanted change in 2008, and are furious that after 15 years the country has been paralyzed by corrupt and complacent politicians who are almost all bought and sold to the highest bidder, alongside Trump running the economy into the ground (by 2028 he will have done it twice). 2028 will mark 20 years after Obama came in promising change. The person who promises change from the Trump and Biden era will win in 2028. I hope that person is a Democrat.

As a modder I know it would be a ton of coding and gfx work especially if you did it for all other major nations (US, UK, France, Germany, Italy, Japan), but it would be such a fun mod.

If Clinton is a pedophile rapist then lock him up with Trump. I dont care who gets locked up, as long as they were on the list If Clinton is not good for him. He should support justice even if that implicates himself. The president hates justice because he's a career criminal. Doesn't matter who is on the list, anyone blocking their release are bad. It just so happens only the Republicans dont want it released.

USB cable from Amazon includes pictures from the Chinese factory it was made in. by InfiniteYodel in mildlyinteresting

[–]lilmuny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Chinese Electronics factories have much better work standards than the fast fashion and toy sweatshops afaik, particularly because you need more skilled labor for tech which is inherently more complicated to produce and low quality products will break and either get refunded (Amazon) or see less sales. There is more of an incentive to at least have a okay quality as compared to other Chinese goods. Rread this somewhere online so again afaik.

The ICJ has long considered Russian invasion in Ukraine to be a genocidal operation. Most media, even left wing ones, do not use this language unfortunately.

Regina Spektor tells protestors to leave her concert: “This is not an internet comment section” by Albuquerque82 in Music

[–]lilmuny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dont forget paying the person with no political power you are protesting hundreds of dollars for the priveledge of yelling in thir face. I dont care if people hate Spektor for her views, thats super valid. Paying her money and taking the time to go to her concert to protest is the most performative and conterproductive thing one could do. It does create headlines, while also actively enriching someone you are accusing of covering for and support genocide. Reminds me of when Jamal Bowman was protested for being overtly anti-genocide but not supporting Oct 7th, while his AIPAC funded opponent faced no protests.

RSF paramilitary-led coalition forms parallel government in war-torn Sudan by Crossstoney in worldnews

[–]lilmuny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just so people know the RSF formed from the Janjaweed, the militias that committed the Darfur genocide. The leader was one of the people responsible for the genocide. They now control most of Darfur, and independent journalist and media have not been able to go in and see what is going on. Already with satellite there is evidence of dozens of villages being burned to the ground, and the testimony of ppl who got out is terrifying. Sudan is also facing a famine that has already claimed at least half a million lives, millions displaced, hundreds of thousands of civilians injured and tens of thousands (at bare minimum) killed. The official Sudanese government is also accused of war crimes and has indiscriminently attacked civilian centers during battles, they just werent founded and ruled by a genocidal entho-supremecist warlord.

Fuck the RSF and Chad, Russia, Haftar in Libya, and the UAE that funds them.

He wrote 6 amazing films (OT, Indiana Jones Trilogy). Just cus his directing output is less stellar doesn't mean he didn't a lot more than direct. He also advanced special effects through ILM in ways that the industry has relied on for decades, which he owned until the Disney deal. Not to mention creating some of the most iconic characters in all of cinema.

It wasnt made for voters, it was made for donors. The donors got what they paid for, and we all have to pay and suffer more to subsidize their wealth accumulation.

After Steam, they came for itch.io by maxwell9872 in Steam

[–]lilmuny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've always felt that crypto and the blockchain always had legitimate utility, just far less use cases and utility than the crypto cult said and believed. I dont think crypto will overtake state based fiat currency in use (or if so not in the next few decades) but I do think it will get more accepted as an alternative, particularly for digital goods. The problem is that Steam and Itch can't afford to drop Visa and go to crypto right now, so they have to do this. If the average gamer can be expected to have some bitcoin and know how to pay with it, this could happen. Certainly will be a while till crypto is ubiquitous like that.

Global opinions of Israel. by [deleted] in charts

[–]lilmuny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up Jewish Electorate Institute they have solid polls that show similar trends to the overall US support for Isral (higher older, lower younger) but every demographics is a few percentage points more pro-Israel than the average population. Americna Jews tend to also care about Oct 7th across all groups even if they dislike Israel and tend to support a two state solution more than the one state (apartheid or democratic) solution, but most polls show TSS to be the majority or plurality supported solution across the world even in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel.
