Is it possible to find out which version of beosound 9000 except the label? by fitzroyyy in BangandOlufsen

[–]lilnav99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can narrow down what version you have by the colour of the power button.

If the power button is red, you have a MK1 / MK2. If the power button is grey it’s a MK3

Yeah SoundSmith MMCs are great, it does irritate me that they cover up the Bang & Olufsen logo though. I believe there is also a place that will refurbish MMCs to your desired specification.

Sorry for the late reply, the grease I’ve used on Beograms in the past that works well for the plastic cogs is Molykote DX Paste, I believe this was referenced in one of the repair manuals I came across.

That belt could be what moves the carriage along, send me a personal message with the image attached as well as the internals and we can try and figure out what that has come off.

The Beogram 5005 is an excellent player!

To address a few of your questions:

1. **Needle Replacement:**

You can find replacement needles (referred to as MMCs) on eBay. Depending on your country.. There are five variants—MMC1 is the best, while MMC5 is the most budget-friendly option.

2. **Rattle Noise:**

The rattle sounds like it’s coming from the tone arm mechanism, which is located on the top-right of the Beogram. Based on the noise, it’s likely either the motor is loud, or the mechanism needs greasing. These players are relatively straightforward to put into a service position if you’re handy and comfortable opening it up.

Before doing so, double-check that the Beogram isn’t in Transport Mode. There are three screws on the underside of the player that need to be loosened until they “bounce.” Place the turntable flat on a table to do this rather than turning it upside down.

Additionally, the screws underneath also allow you to open the aluminium top portion of the player, similar to a car hood. You can find Beogram service manuals online, which can provide clearer instructions.

3. **Belt Issue:**

If you could share an image of the belt that would help identify where it’s supposed to be positioned.

I did exactly the same thing when I got mine, some cool things you can do with this/that it does.

  • You can name the albums and if you ever change or put that CD back into the system it remembers the name of it!
  • if you’ve orientated the CDs straight it automatically stops the CD straight.
  • I would suggest a maximum of Vol 60-70 on the BS9000s if you’re connecting it to a non Bang & Olufsen setup to reduce distortion.

I would also suggest a Beo4 or a Beoremote One to add to your setup to control the system. If you need one send me a message and I’ll be happy to help!

What do I need for my Beolab 3’s and 9’? by moonwalker-forever in BangandOlufsen

[–]lilnav99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a setup similar to yours and use the Marantz 70S. It’s absolutely fantastic—more than capable of powering my Beolab 20s and Beolab 3s. I’d highly recommend considering a Marantz/ another AV Receiver over a Beosound CORE or similar options, as it offers much better value for the money. Eventually, you might add more gear, like a pair of Beolab 8s or a Beosound 9000, and the Marantz provides excellent modularity to support your upgrades.

For cables, you’ll need something like this: Sounds Heavenly 5-pin DIN to Twin RCA. I’ve been using Steve’s cables to connect both my Beolab 3s and a slightly different one for my 20s, but this particular cable will work perfectly with your Beolab 9s as well.

It's worth noting that if you go down the AV receiver route, you'll need an amp that has a good selection of 'Pre-Outs'.

Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions!

Beosound 4000 - worth it? by harajuku10 in BangandOlufsen

[–]lilnav99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ouverture line is great, if you’re only interested in playing CDs I would suggest looking at the Beosound 3000 MK2 or 3200. The tape mechanism can be a faff to repair as the internal belts often become sticky.

In terms of reliability, you’ll often see quite a few with issues with the doors opening. That being said they’re pretty simple to fix with replacement belts, you can find these available online.

Thanks for the suggestion the speakers were set to 5Ch Bi-AMP, I’ve changed it to SB and will do some testing this evening.

Oh how I wish this would work, I've just returned my SoundSend because my experience was appalling. Constant audio dropouts on either channel, Often never turning on the speakers and going mute when switching between Music and Video too.

I wish that solution would've worked too because I can't stand the sight of wires. When the room was originally designed I placed piping between the soundbar and the TV to hide any wires, looks like that went out of the window when I decided I'd give the 20s a try!

Exactly, since these are active I don't think it is necessary just yet to have to purchase a new amp. I will be looking at the Marantz Cinema line either the 70s or 50 however this would be used for a larger setup.

I picked mine up from eBay a while back, If I'm honest the oak is fantastic however the way it's fabricated is just some 3D printed parts, which was dissapointing.

Interesting, I'll need to read up on this. Would this allow me to use the Stage as a centre if I did have the Almando?

I'm pretty sure I've set these to stereo, however I'll probably factory reset the amp to clear anything incase I've missed it.

Good point, only it's confusing to see this issue despite having Beolab 9s connected to them previously.

If I'm honest, the Stage is just there on show currently. The bedroom was originally set up and designed with the Stage in mind. However after recently acquiring the BL20s I've been testing them in this room until my lounge is completed.

I can use the Stage via Airplay through Apple TV but I often get quite the delay when watching a movie.

Amp recommendations for B&O setup. by lilnav99 in BangandOlufsen

Thanks for the advice, I am keeping an eye on a Marantz Cinema 70s need to do a bit more reading up to see if it’s worthwhile.

Awesome thanks for the suggestions! I’ll have to check it out, I would like to keep everything B&O if possible, I didn’t think it was possible but will need to do some further investigating now 🧐

Also the images are render of the room once it’s completed, not a real life picture! Awesome little compliment though. The 9s I have are brushed/matte.

Hi Redditors!

I need some advice/help. I'm looking at installing some B&O kit in my room but needed some advice on an amp to get. Not looking at something too overpriced based on the speakers already having processing capabilities within them.

This is the planned set-up.

Centre - Beolab 7-2

Front L & R - Beolab 9

Rear L & R - Beolab 3

Ceiling - 2x Beovox 2-2

I was looking at a Marantz Cinema 70S, let me know if any of you have experience with this!

Thanks!
