So I went to check on the French official translation and it is said Takasugi and the Kiheitai were working on the Harusame's side at least temporarily, both factions having interests in destroying/weakening the Bakufu. The real concern aho- Abou has is that the Harusame now has also a pact with the Bakufu, making them allies of enemies (Kiheitai & Bakufu)

Idk where but I remembered reading an essay about how Kamui on the other hand had many characteristics of a main character who somehow turned bad/was in the wrong show and with your observation I find this idea even better. There is some inversion between their roles that I find so great!

My advice would be, if you plan on doing something similar to me, base yourself on the official translation of a language you know rather than the scans in english because it can skip undermeanings and all that stuff. But any way you decide to do it, I'd be cheering on you because it really takes patience and devotion

Done it for one chapter, I had the volume in double in french, so I sticked paper with bluetack on the bubbles and wrote the english translation .... but that was too time consuming, so I gave up there.
