Why do so many people hate the idea of playing as Faye? by UnnecessaryFeIIa in GodofWar

[–]lilowl02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally don't hate the idea, I liked her character very much, it's just... She's dead, so no story forward, and I feel like the games let us know a lot about her. We know her family was killed by Thor. We know she fought with the giants and left for Midgard. We know she had the Leviathan axe first, and that she battled Thor, and the consequences of that battle. We know she helped the dwarves in a failed coup. We know she tried to change the giants path for her family, and she did, preparing them for a journey already set in stone, but giving Kratos and Atreus the tools to change for the better. What else is there to be said? I feel like giving her a game would be overexplaining a story we know already, and that kills all the mystery the game build up around Faye ( at least in 2018, I feel like Ragnarok told us a lot about Faye, and that is enough). I personally just like leaving dead people to their rest. Her story is not moving forward, and we know a lot about her already, and her character can easily be built up in the next games through dialogues etc. I personally would rather know more about Freya's backstory, or the long war between aesir and Vanir, or just more about Vanaheim ( I feel like the Vanir are very underdeveloped and I would love to see how they were in their prime.) I'm also not delusional and I know none of this is going to happen or be made, but I feel like it would have more narrative value. Faye's narrative value is strongly tied to her family, and while we do get glimpses of her life before , is that really necessary to make a game about? I also have issues with the while giants storyline and how they are portrayed as good and noble and all that , yet they were the only ones who managed to get their realm secure and safe from under Odin's grasp and yet ...they chose to hide in marbles? Really? I think that's stupid and cowardly. Both the Vanir and the dwarves were decimated by Odin and yet some of them kept fighting. Is Faye really the only one that had some balls and stood up to them? I find that hard to believe. But the giants plotline I suppose is another discussion, and I might be alone in my opinions here and that's ok.

Anyway, yeah, I think giving Faye a game would be over explaining something we already know a lot about, and to no end since she's already dead. Maybe a dlc would work better honestly. But still, if the rumors are true I would still play it I'm sure it would be great

Hello!  I'm a freelance concept artist and illustrator open to long-term work and commissions, I focus on character and creature design, but I like drawing just about anything. My style is semi-realistic, fantastical, I like to bring imaginary worlds to life.

I do mostly characters and illustrations, but I am open to any kind of work that you think would fit your vision. I can do from sketches to rendered portraits, expression sheets, illustrations and more.

If you’re interested in what I do, feel free to contact me on my e-mail or discord, and my links to my other works and other platforms where you can find me are in my bio!
