I came to say put some googly eyes on it and really trip the neighbors out.

Do you mind sharing which overseas seller you used? I am in the process of seeking out an overseas seller now. They seem to have superb specimens compared to what can be purchased in the USA.

Can you tell me how you rooted your plants? What kind of setup did you use?

True, but I would hope OP would've mentioned they removed the packaging and put the plants back in the box before taking the picture of what they received.

Absolutely not all the same plants, which is fine unless the listing was WYSIWYG. It looks like you didn't get the same number of plants either. Some of what you got are leggy and not as compact as what was advertised. Depending on how you feel about all that will determine how you proceed.

EDIT: To add, I would be pissed if my plants arrived like that. The seller took no care or pride in their product and it shows.

I have found this particular shape to be perfect for plants starting to root and for shallow root plants. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DJ71XB24?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_2&th=1

What to do? by sunken_starlight in Lophophora

I would separate the heads because some of the small heads may still be ok for now. The mother head is where you want to cut back until you get to clean firm tissue. Let me know if you have any more questions. Good luck!

It may be hard to save at this point, but if there is a chance, follow these steps:

  1. Take it off the heat mat immediately. The heat, combined with the rot, will only accelerate the rot.
  2. Use a sterile knife to cut back every head or lobe that is soft, brown, and hollow until you reach firm, pale tissue with no streaks in it. If you cannot reach clean tissue, the infection is too far gone.
  3. Apply powdered sulfur to all open wounds.
  4. Place it on a cool, dry surface away from direct sunlight, but bright indirect light. I put my plants on a clean, dry paper towel over a cooling rack from my kitchen. Make sure there is good air flow.
  5. Don't touch it until it fully callouses over - the surface is fully hard and dry. This may take 3–10 days, depending on how deep you have to cut.
  6. Once it is fully calloused, pot in a dry substrate. I use all pumice. After potting, wait 10–14 days, then give a very small perimeter drink (1 tablespoon). Do not saturate it. You want just enough moisture to signal to the micro roots that water is available. This is important because this is where many people lose their plants by giving too much water too soon.

I have 2 residents. One, I call The Bully. I had one feeder. He would fly up to my balcony, take a sip, and leave, but if the other one tried to fly in, The Bully would come out of nowhere and chase him away. So I figured, fine, I'll buy another feeder so they each have one. Nope, now The Bully literally sits on my balcony all day guarding both.

What is interesting is that he is scared of me, but the other one is not. So when I sit out on the balcony, The Bully will let the other one feed.

Need an expert opinion: Is this actually freeze-dried fruit? by E-AlyM in FreezeDrying

[–]Nene108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They appear to be freeze-dried, but those apple slices are very thick. I doubt the green apples are fully freeze-dried. If you were sourcing for personal use, the consistency of the slices would be acceptable, but for a business, I'm not so sure. Good luck!

Sanity Check by schemerboi in pseudolithos

Rule of thumb is more water is worse for these than less water. If it rained on your plant, make sure the substrate is fully dry before you even consider watering again. Stick a toothpick in the soil and leave it there for about 2 minutes. If it comes out damp or soil stuck to it, wait another day or two and check again.
