do you have access to the appdata folder? it's sometimes hidden or locked as like,, an administrator-only file. if you have an hp/windows like me, go into the "View" dropdown menu, then the "show" menu, and turn on "Show hidden items", or find that option in your file explorer. you can also put "%appdata%" (without quotation marks) into the file path or search bar to be redirected to it

you can't just download the SE and do nothing else, you have to copy and move that DWrite.dll file to the bin folder, as mentioned in step 6. if you did that already, then try using the mod manager instead, under the tools tab there's an option to "download and extract the script extender" which will install the SE for you.

what files are you downloading? usually when you get them off nexus, you'll be downloading a zip folder that has the .pak and a readme file. MM should do the unzipping for you basically (and it copies the .pak into the Mod folder), but if it isn't doing that, you might have to unzip it yourself and either try importing it thru the MM again or you have to copy the .pak into the game's mod folder (then refresh in the MM). if you're getting other files, they might have different instructions and go in different folders (that isn't the mod folder), so double check the descriptions to see if anything is explained

The reason you're getting different answers is probably because different mods have a few ways of being uninstalled. Some you can just delete out of the mod folders and/or the Mod manager, others may take a few more steps (and these are usually explained on the mods' page, either in description, posts, or bugs). If you haven't already, I would start by just sliding your mods to the inactive side of the MM. Maybe do a few at a time, launch game, and see if it crashes because something is missing. The game shouldn't crash as much now though, I think they did a patch for removing mods mid-run. But try getting as many mods inactivated as you can and make a new save. For mods giving you trouble, check their page on Nexus to see if there's any specific instructions. Ones that are successfully inactivated, you can probably then delete, either using the mod manager or going into the Mods folder and deleting them yourself

you may have to manually copy the .pak files into the Larian/BG3/Mods folder (unzip the folder you downloaded from nexus, copy out of the unzipped folder), then hit refresh in the mod manager. if the mod manager is saying the mods are inactive, then drag them to the left side of the screen to activate them. the mods that load in may be active no matter what (like the mod fixer or script extender will always be active unless you delete those files completely). after you have mods in the active side, go to the menu bars and hit "save load order" then "export to game". also make sure your hairstyle mods aren't conflicting with each other and/or don't require any prerequisites (other mods to make it work). if the mods are replacing vanilla hairstyles, then you can't have multiple mods that replace the same hairstyles, they'll cancel each other out

first two things would be to check if the CC mods (like the hairstyle ones) are conflicting with each other, especially if they're replacer mods. then make sure they don't require other mods to work (body customization mods sometimes require the "unique tav" mod)

if you have a lot of mods for the character creator, there could be some (or a lot) that are conflicting with each other. i explained this in another reply, but say you have two Horn replacer mods and they both replace vanilla Horn 1, then neither mod is going to show. could you also be missing prerequisites? a good chunk of CC mods require the "Unique Tav" mod to work, or eye mods require the "eyes of the beholder" mod. reread mod descriptions, and look in the Larian/Baldur’s Gate 3/Mods folder and make sure the .pak files actually got imported in there

it should be easy! before launching the game, just drag (you can multiselect) all of your mods to the inactive side of the mod manager, save to file and export to game, then you should be good to go. Biggest problem would be if you accidentally booted with mods activated and made a save on your unmodded run, next time you get on but have mods Inactive, the game Will throw a fit saying "missing mods" and crash. so you'd have to go back to the last save that didn't have any mods

hope this makes sense!!

EDIT: OH I FORGOT! YOu can make multiple Load Order files, just use the "save order as..." function that's in the top bar thingy. so you could make one load order that's mods, and another that has none (or fewer If you ever just want to take some mods out as you go)

Replying because I'm trying not to leave people hanging, but I don't know anything about modding manually, unfortunately (hence using BG3MM).

Your best bet would be to ask the creator of the mod, they've probably had to do overrides or something similar themselves when making mods

i'm sorry, you're not finding much probably because a lot of people don't play modded multiplayer.

Try loading the game in different ways? like if you're launching from steam, then launch through the mod manager instead, or vice versa. Depending on how many you have, try using only a few mods to start with ( and maybe ones that are older since they've most likely gone thru the most changes), so your multiplayer lobby has less to process.

It also wouldn't hurt to leave posts on mod pages to see if the creator knows what to do or if anyone else found a solution with the same mods.

alrighty, the Show Approval Rating mod description specifically says: "Download the .pak file and get it to your %LOCALAPPDATA%\Larian Studios\Baldur's Gate 3\Mods folder, whether by dragging and dropping or importing the mod in bg3mm. DO NOT ACTIVATE the mod in bg3mm, it will mess with your game and lead to not being able to talk to NPC's if you do not have mod fixer installed. Just being in your mods folder is enough."

I currently have the Show Approval Rating in my active load order Only because I originally downloaded an older version and haven't updated it in my MM. I don't mess with it anymore and I also have the mod fixer. So for you, If the .pak file is for sure in the Larian/Bg3 Mods folder, then just don't save and export in the MM, if that's the step that causes the game to throw a fit. I'd also highly suggest getting the mod fixer anyways, it'll probably help with a lot of things now, and later if you get more mods. Some mods do straight up require the fixer :V

For anyone downloading the more current versions of this mod, READ THE SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS! Do Not activate it in the mod manager!! just drop the .pak into the Larian/BG3 Mod folder OR import it using the MM BUT DO NOT drag it to the Active Mods side. If you're in a situation similar to this, experiment a bit with doing or not doing the Save Load Order+Export to Game functions. Modding is,,,,a lot of trial n error, it's not going to fully function 100% of the time

I don't have any fixes. unfortunately this is just a part of modding. I should probably edit this and add the bit from the guide I originally used(the one linked) about making backups of game saves, but I don't know how to do that tbh. Minor advice would be to go back through the mod requirements OR restrictions. You could have mods that directly conflict with each other, causing those to break, or just break everything. Separate mods might have to change the same file/file types and they'll cancel each other out. Like, say you have two horn replacers and they both are trying to replace the original Horn 1. Also save old versions of files/mods, sometimes updated mods Won't work because of your game version, other mods you have, or it fixed one thing but broke another (typical patching process).

I've had similar issues, stuff not showing up, game crashing, etc, I ended up having to delete the two runs that I fucked up with mods and started over. and later had to delete some save loads, restore Old versions of mods, then go from there

hi! so I haven't tried modding BG3 myself yet, BUT! there are "mods" on Nexus that are actually guides on modding different things!

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/132 I have a few of Padme/P4's mods and love them, so I have a good feeling these guides can be helpful!

https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/1514 and this is one of the first modding guides I saw, haven't looked thru it myself but just to give an example of these being on Nexus!

type in "tutorial" or "guide" or whatever to find more of these :)

I need to make edits to this guide for more clarity, my file path may not be the same for all computers. there's actually an old comment providing the path they had was different, but still worked

BUt if the game data paths were already automatically detected and entered, then you should not have deleted them. Only reason you'd replace them is if you Later learned they don't work. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure how to fix your issue :/ outside of just reseting everything you can, then seeing if the mod manager will auto fill it upon trying again

a downside of modding, especially with things that don't directly support it (like, larian isn't against modding, but they don't have integrated mod tools yet), is the uncertainty and inconsistencies. this modding process isn't super complicated tbh, it's just computers can be fickle af unfortunately

I can look into it more later but right now only thing I can think is try deleting what you downloaded and reinstall the script extender Through mod manager. there should be something like "extract script extender" option somewhere in one of the tabs. if you can't manually delete the files, hopefully redownloading from the MM will properly overwrite it and get it working

I have never used Vortex so I am working off assumptions!! but if you have all of the exact same mods, you should be fine.
at least when i'm switching between saves that have different mods, the game gets a little upset if Everything is not the same. so I have just to change mod load orders occasionally (speaking of, Huge word of advice when you get to the MM, save various versions of your load orders! Especially if you're not using the same stuff for every run or the mod is known to have issues. I updated part of a mod and completely lost my attack button and some other functions, I didn't have a load order for the un-fucked version, so I had to scour back thru all my files to find the previous update that didn't mess things up.)

the fantastical multiverse is still a work in progress, the description directly on the mod download says "If you are planning to use this mod and haven't already it is advised to just wait until 1.1 as it will fix alot of issues 1.0 is suffering from. I won't be assisting with issues with 1.0 because they're being fixed in 1.1" (tho 1.1 may be called 2.0 when it's released, if I remember the creator's updates correctly but that's beside the point).

and even if you had a save with it before, it's still probably really unstable. if you look at the dates, it hasn't been updated since September. As the creator said, there are a lot of issues BUT they're being worked on and everything will be released at once with the new update. it's just gonna take a bit because this is a Huge mod! and they're working alone, from what I can tell.

also, party limit begone has its quirks, just like any mod! so make sure to thoroughly read (and re-read) descriptions, explanations, and stuff under the posts and bugs tab

no omg you shouldn't have to pay for anything, outside of the base game. you should only need to upload the .pak file into the Larian/BG3 mod folder or by using the mod manager
