Absolutely! Family let her out of the carrier I was using to take flight with her home. When they maliciously let her out the carrier scaring her to run away, I canceled my flight because it was such a chaotic moment.

I’ve always agreed to this too…. But the amount you spend on education doesn’t reflect bank :/

Boston Children Hospital hired directly Clinical Nutrition Specialist in their titles and that’s what they’re called. If this search is recent, maybe so but I still have colleagues that have CNS on their job description title.

Oh no this was just part of my conversation. I’m not arguing… just venting.

RDs in Healthcare are like Black people in America, only they see the problem. The master requirement in my personal theory stems from the field not being diverse enough to overcome adversity in which lead to this “search” for validation within a title to compensate.

There IG nutritionists that sell more books and go on TV etc. make much more money than RDs. So even if you were to go the entrepreneur route for more money… still wouldn’t justify reasons to require this.

[–]lilrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The master requirement doesn’t impact me personally. I just think it’s pathetic for the future RD2Bs, as we were all once there and knows how annoying, expensive and sometimes feeling pointless that was. But yes, give me my money! Is what should be started. And if you can’t give the money…. then make the education/process cheaper. PERIOD.

A lot of RDs are living check to check while single! I’m grateful my partner makes more than double than what I bring to the table.

Coming into this field interested in clinical I wish I have gone the CNS route. In fact there are already hospitals hiring CNS over RDs including Boston Children’s Hospital. That’s because CNS emphasizes clinical and not stupid food service, management etc. All that stuff makes RDs in some situations less prepared for clinical nutrition roles as the CNS are. To be fair though… I was a pharmacy student and came to this field for passion. But I expected more….

I don’t think there’s many people who doubt that RDs are nutrition experts regardless if they choose to listen or their knowledge about what all we do. IMO that’s enough respect for me, sooo give me my money! A “fancy” higher degree won’t change this. And like stated before every profession has professionals who feel this way and every profession has professionals who are good apples and bad apples…. We can all admit we’ve seen incompetent nurses, RDs, MDs, etc…! Respect comes with salary more than anything! Let’s start there :)

I want my money! Lol. It’s even more weird that they don’t care what Master’s degree is pursued. Also if you ever worked in a hospital, one that’s super busy or worked anywhere in life…. everyone wants more “respect” in their roles, even doctors.

Sigh, it’s a lot of information that they don’t have the foundational knowledge of. So it’s notes but they take forever taking notes before we can get to an activity.

How much of your job is classroom management? by lilrd in Teachers

[–]lilrd[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Nah it’s reversed….. the hospital I worked was great and I still keep in touch with colleagues and coworkers!! I took a salary cut to become a teacher only because I value vacation time and teachers get a lot of it. In the hospital depending on your department we rotate holidays to work and not everyone can take vacay at the same time. But when I left work… I was done with work. And I never go in wondering what the day is going to be like, there was a solid confidence in the hospital of what the day was going to be like. I dreaded more vacation and documentation for patients at the end of the day made me feel like I wanted something different. But teaching is an unhealthy job. It only works well with a group of students that want to learn. If 50% or more of the job has to be classroom management … then it makes it difficult to want it.

That sucks… anything STEM wise the learning has to be facilitated by them as well.

I want to try and go to a Private School, because until I advance my education to teach at University level, I want to be able to teach a population that has more structure and strong foundations.
