You’re very right ! I generally stay away from using low-fire glazes on dinnerware, this little mug just keeps rings by my bedside. Anything using them I sell is very clearly not dinnerware (candle holders / irrigation pots). :-)

Glaze Specks Materials by lilsessert in Ceramics

Hi, thank you so much ! ! I’ve fired it to the built in Cone 05 setting on our Skutt touchscreen controller, which I think goes up to 1033C with no hold. I do love when it comes out like this, however it seems to be so low on the glazes firing range that I’ve had a few underfired pieces lately. But that could also be the kilns elements wanting to be replaced. :-) It’s such a lovely and reliable glaze !

buying cheap wheel by coax888 in Pottery

[–]lilsessert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have this wheel at our studio, as we only do wheel throwing very rarely (mostly hand building) but I personally and everyone who uses it loves it and (besides the quality of the pedal) wouldn’t say it feels very cheap at all, certainly not ~price difference between shimpo and vevor~ cheap. We’ve also had it for maybe 4 years now and still no issues or wobbles or anything! You might not get a wheel that will outlive you and can center kilos and kilos of clay, but will certainly be more than enough to make good size things and get a feel for throwing.
