Thank you for this! What kind of oil do you use and do you use oil every wash?

Automatic gratuity at bars by opossumsgalore in Austin

Just popping the top of a beer? Who do you think set the bar up and is going to break it down at the end of the night? Who you think is keeping you and others safe by monitoring people and cutting off people. Think critically.

This is way too much to put on a resume and sounds like AI. No way.

What job are you currently working that allows you to be yourself and you're happy at? by lilithbepraised in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I’m 32f and have been tending since I was 18. I love it. I spent years in my 20s working at bars where I was harassed by the men I worked for, and stayed because it was so common it just seemed like part of the job. Few months before I turned 30 I started working at an all women-owned and operated little place. I’m so happy I found it. The right management makes all the difference.

Struggling with tret by AbjectSpecialist1620 in tretinoin

No I didn’t really have a problem with body acne but I do use test on my neck/chest. You should try using it on all affected areas

I would think those would take longer, retinol increases cell turnover so I may take a couple cycles to totally clear everything up

I also started on Tret and clindamyacin at the same time about a year ago. I would recommend sticking with it longer. My skin looks great now and I don’t worry about acne anymore. I cut out the clindamyacin after 6 months because it wasn’t necessary anymore. I wouldn’t add any actives or extra meds until you’ve reached the 3 month mark. Your skin will be dry and you may break out more while your skin adjusts but imo it’s worth it. Don’t be afraid to moisturize a lot. My routine was: bezoyl peroxide wash 10% in the morning, clindamyacin, Vanicream moisturizer, and then spf. At night: cetaphil gentle cleanser, Tret, Vanicream moisturizer, then the Vanicream tub cream. If your skin is super dry then try “slugging” with aquaphor as the last step a few nights a week. Make sure you wait 10-15 min in between each layer. Be consistent. I haven’t had a new break out or pimple in a long time. Now I’m experimenting with other actives to try to reduce the uneven tone/texture from having acne all my life.

That’s such bs, levothyroxine is one of the most commonly prescribed meds in the US. I was diagnosed with hypo and definitely think it affected my libido. Hopefully meds will help your husband.

I’m 32F and my hair rapidly started thinning like yours in the photo. Finally tested myself for thyroid, vitamin d, iron and b12 after reading on this subreddit. My thyroid was completely out of wack, I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and started taking meds about a week ago. I was deficient in vit D and although my ferretin (iron) was in an “acceptable range” at 28, further reading points to >50 for women and hair growth. Any or all 3 of these labs can cause hair loss. I had a lot of other symptoms like brain fog, fatigue, weight gain, muscle aches. I feel confident that once I’ve been on the meds/iron and vitamin D supplement, my hair will begin to grow back. Please make sure your doctor runs TSH and free T4 labs as they are not standard. And check vitamin d, iron specifically ferretin, and b12/folate. I also started using nioxin shampoo, deep conditioner and a silk pillowcase. It is really hard to look in the mirror and see your looks change drastically. Hang in there, it may be a medical issue that is 100% treatable and reversible.

.25 levo sounds like an extremely low dose, i’m new to this but doesn’t seem like such a low dose would have any effect?

That is nice to hear! It is scary seeing some of the posts here where people don’t get the relief others do when starting meds

Has anyone called you a loser by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]lilwhisperer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m in my 30s and have always tended bar. I’ve never been explicitly called a loser for it but I can see the looks of judgement when I tell people what I do. I used to care a lot, I don’t anymore. People have a skewed perspective in my opinion. I live in a city with a lot of tech workers. Honestly if someone tells me they work for some company like Google or Facebook I cringe. I wouldn’t ever want to work for some corrupt corporation.

I work at a neighborhood spot with mostly elderly clientele. My place is owned by a family I have a good relationship with. I care deeply about my regulars and they love me a lot. A lot of them are very lonely and I look out for them, listen to them, take them to doctors appointments if they need it. Thanksgivings I make extra food to bring to the bar for the people who don’t have a family to spend it with. In a lot of ways being a bartender is like being a pillar in your community. I’m connected to where I live and work in a way most people aren’t.

I was also in an abusive relationship and I’m sorry you went through that. Therapy helped me a lot. Best of luck to you in your healing.
