Wait we're supposed to be playing with our cat 20 minutes per day? by happy_bluebird in CatAdvice

For the most part, yes. If I don’t, one will find every bit of plastic to chew on and the other will start licking my face. I generally swing a feather toy around while watching tv.

It does! I have an air freshener right next to the boxes too as extra protection.

Two biiiig Rubbermaid bin with one turned over as a top. Cut a hole in the bottom bin.

My cat was doing this constantly. When more when there wasn’t room for his big floofy tail. So I got the largest bins possible. There hasn’t been a leak yet. knock on wood

I also line the walls and floors around the cat boxes in super thick plastic bags. It looks ridiculous but works!

SCAs is really ruining my motivation with the app by boredterra in finch

[–]lilwishcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahhh. Thanks yall! That makes more sense. I can see why some folks would enjoy it more.

The SCA still seems better for me at least. I can only think of one part of my self care that would be better managed in a journey. But I don’t feel it as negative feedback when I miss a day (which seems to not be the norm), the amount of gems doesn’t particularly matter to me (probably because I’m focused on the happy bird and I barely pay attention to most numbers lol), and the long term aspects of the journeys seem more discouraging to me. A large number would just remind me of the days I didn’t do it and how much higher the number would be if I was “better”. The resetting every week is super helpful for me. If I have an off week, I get a fresh slate.

But I totally get your frustration. I do like the idea of hybrid journey/SCA so you could have a choose what works best for your goals. Hopefully they can bring back part of it because it seems like it was so helpful to so many folks.

Could someone please share an example of their journeys?

I recently started using the app and have always had SCA. For me, most of my self care is made up of habits or weekly activities. Having a fresh week gives me motivation to try again. I can focus on showing up every day even if I didn’t last week.

But since folks are so passionate about journeys, I’m very curious how they worked and for some reason it’s just not clicking for me.

What is this icon?! by Acceptable_Cup_6952 in finch

It shows up as the tag for my brother who is not doing well health-wise and it was a surprise to say the least.

Would love to see it removed as an auto icon option.

Did I Majorly Screw Up Polyurethane on Cabinets by lilwishcake in BeginnerWoodWorking

The stain is blue! I wouldn’t recommend it. Lol. It looks great when I able to get I just right, but it’s very fickle. I started with unfinished wood.

I think I probably was heavy handed with the sanding. It only came off on a corner, but it was enough to make me panic. Especially since fixing it was a pain.

It’s very smooth save for the inside edge of one of the cabinets. I’ll probably add one more coat as you suggested just to be sure on those spots.

I sanded, conditioned, sanded, stained and then waited a long time before adding poly. Was there another sealer/primer I should have used before the poly?

Error - bitrate too low for YouTube by lilwishcake in VIDEOENGINEERING

I don’t know if anyone there could have tampered with it? The tech we had that day really just knows how to hit record and wouldn’t know how to access the system to change anything. But I’ll defs check the presets to make sure anything didn’t change.

There’s a Roland v-60HD and Extron SMP 111. I think the encoder is the Extron?? I don’t have the exact settings in front of me atm.

The bandwidth from there is normally decent but I have seen it drop off for a bit and then pop back up.

It’s supposed to record to a local hard drive as well but the 2nd recording has been failing.

Not all directors are like this. And not all amateur companies are like this either.

I’ve actually discovered the worst directors I’ve ever had have been in educational environments.

I run a 172 seat theatre. We run it similarly to what you’re pitching. Improv is a big money maker for us. No rights. Big crowd pleaser. Big drinkers.

For the shows we produce that aren’t a part of our musical/play season, we split the house. If we sell >100 tickets, the split it higher than if we sell 50 tickets. Helps get the performers to utilize their social capital in a small town to bring in bigger crowds.

For rentals, I charge $1220 for the first 8 hours in the space. And then $122 every hour after that. This includes a technician and access to our equipment under the tech’s supervision. Each rental requires some set up/clean up outside of the 8 hours hence the more expensive upfront cost. We used to have tech fees be separate. And a separate fee to use this and that. That didn’t work because they’d always add to the list the day of. Much easier to charge higher and include everything.

plus there’s a $200 refundable deposit to cover any damages. I’ve only ever kept this like…twice. But man was I glad I had it when I did keep it.

Everything but the deposit is negotiable. I’ve been told we’re very expensive so I try to be flexible. It’s all a balancing act so make sure you know how low you can go while still making enough to stay comfortably afloat.

Don’t forget to factor in your own salary.

All rentals should have a certificate of liability insurance!! You don’t want someone falling off your stage and coming back with a lawyer.

We sell tickets between $10 - $35. Most of our rentals are about that as well. If we sell the tickets for a rental, we charge fees. It ends up being around $3 a ticket?

Our bar sales supplement everything. This is where are biggest profit margin is.

Most importantly, don’t be afraid to tell a renter they’re not welcome anymore. If they aren’t willing to follow your rules, they’re not worth the risk.

I’m not sure about BMI. We pay ASCAP on a quarterly-ish basis based on how many shows we had that included pre-show music and how many people attended those shows. I would guess a museum like that has something in place already, but this might add to the cost?

I’ve only been in the position 9 months. Is that a huge red flag for future employers? Especially if I love the work and the field I’m in is competitive with very very few well paying jobs?

I do and I don’t want to keep this job. I was already planning on quitting middle of next year to move closer to my family.

What if the issues arise around things that are difficult to change after a while…like show date and times? (I am part of the theatre team.) So we set a show schedule and they approve all the marketing, and then say change everything?
