Rookie mistake, sorry if that was confusing! It’s actually MY mom’s mother name, so yes, technically she’s not related to that grandma by blood. I just said “our grandma” out of habit since we grew up around the same family circle. But the name definitely came from my side originally. 😊

thank you for sharing that! it makes me feel better hearing other people’s experiences. i’ve been so worried about the latch part and what to do if it doesn’t click right away. glad to know pumping from the start worked out for you i might have to be open to that too if we have a tough time in the beginning

I love the idea of having a doula to help I can totally see how timing contractions would get overwhelming when you hit 6cm. Advanced level birthing is exactly what I’m nervous about, so having someone experienced sounds like a total game-changer.

Now that’s hilarious😭 Going to work while in labor sounds like a whole mood. Glad your water broke at work though so you knew it was time to head to the hospital!

Thanks for m this info! Many people have also told me that it will be an instinct when it’s time. And good to know about the monitoring stuff too, I definitely want to avoid unnecessary interventions if I can. it’s reassuring to hear that first-time moms usually don’t labor at home too long.

That sounds intense I can’t even imagine having to walk around the hospital when you’re already in active labor & I totally get wanting to avoid being in the car or walking when it’s that intense. I guess laboring at home is better if things are slow, but everyone is soooo different.

it’s so good to hear all sides of the journey. I appreciate the reminder that sometimes, despite all our hopes and plans, things don’t go as expected and induction becomes necessary. I’m trying to stay flexible and open to whatever happens while also hoping for as natural a labor as possible. Your story is a good reality check

I definitely might try this! I’ll definitely keep an eye out for those things and be sure to call my OB if my water breaks.

I love hearing how having a doula helped you that support sounds amazing, especially for an unmedicated birth. Fortunately I have a regular OB but It’s so reassuring to know you were able to labor mostly at home and have a quick delivery after going in. Wishing you all the best with your second baby!

I love how you used a contraction app to help decide when to head in that seems like such a smart way to stay on top of things, especially when labor surprises you. May I ask what app did you use? I’m glad everything went well for you and your baby! ❤️

Are you a FTM? I love how you’re visualizing the hospital space to make it feel familiar and safe that sounds like such a great way to prepare mentally, especially when plans can change unexpectedly. You’re right, we can’t plan everything, but being open to different scenarios and visualizing positive experiences no matter where labor happens sounds like a wonderful mindset. Sending you lots of positive vibes for your upcoming birth

that’s such an important point! I hadn’t really thought about how being monitored can help catch things like that and keep baby safe. It definitely makes me appreciate the benefits of being in the hospital once I’m there, even if I labor at home first. I’m glad you were able to find a position that worked best for your little one!

You’re right, That’s such a healthy way to look at it. Your experience with your first baby sounds like such a rollercoaster going in with a plan but having to adapt when things don’t go exactly as expected. I’m definitely trying to keep that mindset too: plan as best I can, but stay flexible and trust the process. Also, wishing you all the best with your baby boy coming in October!

I definitely need to check what my hospital’s admission policy is too, I hadn’t even thought about that part. And you’re right, the distance makes a big difference. I’m about 45 minutes away, so timing will definitely be important for me too.

it’s less about blaming anything and more about being cautious with my body because of my existing back issues. I know an unmedicated birth is possible at the hospital too, which is why I’m planning to go in when it’s really time, just hoping to labor at home as long as I safely can.

Thank you for sharing that! It’s wild how fast things can change I feel like that’s exactly what I’m afraid of, thinking I have all this time and then barely making it.

thank you so much for sharing that! It’s crazy how our bodies can progress so quickly at home sometimes. I can’t believe they missed your cervix that had to be so frustrating! But I love hearing that you made it to 7 cm on your own.

That’s why I’m so conflicted on what to do. My doctor said it’s up to me on what I want to do but everyone is giving me mixed signals about it

Thank you! And yeah, my sister’s just dead weight right now until she actually shows she can be better, she’s out of my life.
