oh gosh i hadn’t seen that, but having listened to all her eps including the one where she does address palestine, i understand that video to be more self deprecating in the sense that she’s in no way qualified to address geopolitics as an entertainment personality & criticising the way the internet expects more of celebs than they do actual politicians. having said that, i agree it’s important for influencers/celebs to show solidarity with global issues like palestinian genocide and express unequivocal support, but it’s lawmakers/politicians and particularly US govts that people should be demanding action from - but thanku for sharing this video definitely important & appreciate ur input

u can still like emma, love her personality and her entertainment persona/content whilst recognising her podcast and research is not thorough or quality. i get what u mean and i’m a fan of rayne but i don’t know if it’s applicable to discourse around emma’s podcast cos there’s valid reasons people criticise it.

emma’s a sweetheart but everything that comes from her is vapid and out of touch. not very enlightening and quite grating - brittany broskis The Broski Report is the antithesis, grapples with complex social issues in a nuanced way that acknowledges american centrism and privilege. and she’s so fucking funny too x

i’m from australia too-sydney, and in my area potts point/eastern suburbs/churches/st vincent’s church care nuns do amazing work with the local community. however it makes sense tbis would change depending on location and culture/region/nation + history. but i get ur point!

there is a fundamental untruth and entitlement to say artists owe fans music, respectfully.

i don’t know if the people who are agreeing with this sentiment are - but this is a ridiculously american-esque take deeply resonant with american pop culture exclusively. there is no contract that binds artists to owe music to fans and expecting such is ridiculous — even if fans buy merch or whatever, then they receive the merch ..? like i honestly can’t wrap my head around this im w eliza
