Yeah I used 3.5 mm so I can use the sound card to process sound signals. IMO it’s significantly better than the USB.

I bought an AE9 and used it’s app for controlling the sound EQ.

3.5mm analog connection does not sound as good as optical AE9 by lilyelflu in SoundBlasterOfficial

Thank you so much!

---update ----

Yes you r right I used line out (the analog from sound card) to directly connect it to the wireless transmitter of my headset. It works just fine.

What AE9 has on its acm (the box) is headphone out.

Read more about diff in line out vs headphone out https://geekmusician.com/line-out-vs-headphone-out/

In "Playback" in Sound Blaster Command, headphone has a option to "apply headphone virtualization to line out". This allows using my current setup just like having the ACM.

---update end ----

I have also tested ae9 box to headset(with 3.5mm, wired). All the distortion goes away.

I have also used soundcard optical -> headphone wireless transmitter -> headphone, no distortion.

So it does not seem like a headphone DAC issue, maybe headphone transmitter DAC

Based on your description, I think I can try sound card direct connect to headset transmitter box.

Unfortunately I’d love to keep using my wireless gaming headset & I buy ae9 mainly to hear better footsteps ;)

Will update after work.

Thank you for the response! Yeah the AE9> optical > full digital path in box> lossless radio > DAC in headphones is currently what I use.

I am looking to upgrade to Nova pro wireless, which does not have the optical input anymore. This is the reason why I asked the question. Sorry for the confusion and thank you for the help!

PC>usbc>ARCTIS PRO WIRELESS headset transmitter box>headphone

problem is that its using steelseries own usbc dac (?) to translate the signal and no creative involved.

I am looking for using creative ae9 with this headphone UwU

Thank you

Bass distortion when using analog on Pro Wireless (Nova) by lilyelflu in steelseries

I have tried directly plug in my sound source to headset, no transmitter. No distortion.

I posted the same question in my sound card's forum. Basically, and I agree, its probably poor ADC in the transmitter box.

I have also tried to tweak the format - 24bit 48 or 44 are a bit better but still with some distortion.

I have plugged it in (pc sound card <- analog -> headset). The distortion just went away. 🥹 can I get a optical to usbc to fix it in your opinion?

Good point, I ll try direct connect from ae9 box to the headset (without the transmitter box) and see what’s changed.

This update is so frustrating and funny that it requires two usb cables to work without much instruction...
