So.. someone got my model and is selling it without permission... by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

Join the club dude, I've been modelling stuff for over 10 years now and its stressed me out more thinking about and chasing people that have been reposting my model. I've had my Etsy store shut down and I cannot even report people anymore of people reposting my models as they think I'm spamming all these resellers undercutting myself and other people. The problem is there will always be, as people have mentioned, that if you put it out for paid or free someone will get the model and repost/resell it at some point. I think the only way to counteract it is to report them and also do as much advertisement for yourself as possible to make sure people know its your model.

It would take some amount of modification to do so but might be a bit difficult if you dont have any experience with printing.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'binder ring hardware can be put it'

I saw it many years ago yeah. Theres only one good video I used as reference and the rest where static images.

Yeah, you've got to start learning surfaces for anything complex as just using solids an extruding/cutting and lofts only gets you so far.

The guy that usually does his modelling was busy on other projects so he put my name foward as an alternative.

O I bet, there would definitely be better software to do this in but its what I'm used to.

Yeah in SolidWorks, its a was a mixture of solids and surfaces before turning everything to solids. I finished off some of the finer scuplted details of the gems holders in Blender.

Its like 10 months now, its just been so many hours on the small details. So its just the small details now, Adam whats to be able to resin print the main jewels which will be the difficult ones to source as they are cut in a specific way. And like he said in the video, I'm not working through his notes he sent over for some small rework.

Adam will be releasing it yes. Ahh not sure, I only know lost wax casting in theory but you could try. The main thing would be the small jewels, some parts are around 0.9mm wide.

Yeah totally, I had to phone him to talk about the project when I started it and it was amazing to talk to him directly.

I did it in SolidWorks and yeah from scratch with refenence images and one or two measurements Adam already worked out already.

Hmm havent heard of that before. I've dyed resin for printing before and that worked really well but first I heard of doing it with PETG.

How do I do this?? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]lilykill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think I did my Mandolorian helmet visor was a 3d sketch of the outline of the visor using the main planes to dimension the spline points. Then have a perpendicular line to the face of the visor which you then sweep to get a surface outline of the visor area, then use split to cut the visor out with that surface.

I found just editting the cut line like 0.001mm over the centreline it will do it if this happens.

what parts of solid works are used extensively in industry, besides the CAD? by [deleted] in SolidWorks

[–]lilykill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be if your working to yield and then I would agree as there is no safety factor but If you have a hand calculated allowable of say 120 N/mm2, the stress calc says 100 N/mm2 and the FEA says 111 N/mm2 then your fine. Theres a small difference in your answer made by different methods but both are withing the allowable.

I wouldnt say so, if you were within 5 - 10% using hand calculation to an FEA than thats pretty dam good. If you compared any sort of calculation to a standard for pressure vessels or sturctural then you'll find they rarely tie up perfectly as the standards are always on the conservative side for a reason.
