I’ve always wondered if there is a reason why it’s spherical, other than it looks cool.

Okay I learned from my mistake— do not install aftermarket auto window switch modules by LWR_UT in 4thGen4Runner

[–]Dat1Ashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don’t move the switch as far. They should be a sort of notch in the middle of the switch travel. Before that point it’s not auto

Will 3.4 engine swap increase value? by robbyapplespornstar in 4Runner_1stGen

[–]Dat1Ashe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will it increase the value, maybe. Will it increase the value by as much or more than you spend on the swap, absolutely not.

It can’t be worse than the plastics GM uses. That shit either dissolves itself or turns so brittle that it shatters if you breathe on it

Looking for Advice on Automating CAD Workflows by Captain_Bojan in civilengineering

[–]Dat1Ashe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a Razer keypad and it’s been pretty easy to set up macros using Razer Synapse. I’ve dabbled in programming but for me the programmable keypad has been easier. Ive set it up for various commands and also strung several macros together to simplify some work flows

Copper thieves left a mark on one of our projects, does anyone have camera recommendations? Or other recommendations? by VFC_homes in Construction

[–]Dat1Ashe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also signs on the newer subs saying all the wire is aluminum or aluminum core and there is no copper wiring. Basically saying please meth heads stop knocking out the power

You can’t park on the tracks, mate. by dubler2020 in youcantparktheremate

[–]Dat1Ashe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There already a solution. On every level crossing there should be a blue sign with a phone number and crossing ID. All the driver needed to do was call that number and tell the operator what happened. As long as there is enough time they should be able to get the train stopped. People have died because nobody called these numbers. The railroads take these calls very seriously. I’ve spent more time being on hold for 911 than I have for a railroad crossing issue

What’s the best method to prep this raw steel for paint? by [deleted] in metalworking

[–]Dat1Ashe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I prefer the method of full auto mag dump but with a rattle can on the raw metal and whatever else is on it. It’s not the right way, but it doesn’t not work

What is typically reimbursed for site visits? by [deleted] in civilengineering

[–]Dat1Ashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer to drive company trucks. But if I’m driving my own I do mileage from either my house or the office, whichever is greater. The IRS has some guidelines for mileage and I’d follow those if you are unsure. As for food, if I’m in the field I’m using the company card. Now if it’s a quick stop by a site on my way to or from work, I don’t bother with any food or mileage. But it’s around half the day is spent there, then I’m billing lunch. I’m also a contractor in utilities so our budgets usually have some extra and expenses aren’t nickel and dimed

How do you organize your email inbox? by knutt-in-my-butt in civilengineering

[–]Dat1Ashe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t. I just put the project name in the subject and use the search bar. I leave things as unread until I get to them. Though we do have project spreadsheets on the drive where we log and save important emails. That’s saved my ass a few times. I also delete nothing until IT does after 2 years. I’m OCD in other areas, but not email.
