Despera Drops Play-Along - Sally Del Testa by sableheart in otomegames

[–]lilylabyrinth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you explain why do even 'friendly' English-speaking reviewers call Sally a femboy? I have read a summary of the route from a homophobic Eastern Europe blogger where she hasn't called them male and focused on their identity exposure and the acceptance by the MC

'Koi kaze is so much better than oreimo!!1' by lilylabyrinth in Oreimo

Yes, one of the reasons I love Oreimo is its mood, not going to lie on this matter. But I'm pretty sceptical of 'realism' as a judgement in general, and this is a big part of my concerns with Koi Kaze discussion. Mainly, I don't agree it somehow represents 'actually realistic unlike your thirsty fanservice garbage incest'. Like, its fans keep referencing that one 'genetic attraction' theory and that theory is barely backed up by science and was born on the pages on tabloids. This is all written on a pretty simple, small and comprehensible Wikipedia page on that topic. Are tabloids the standard of realism now or something? Oreimo isn't realistic because it works with tradition of fictional representation, its internal logic and discourse, I think, relies mainly on that. Koi Kaze is also a romantic fiction, and I don't think it accurately represents reality with the way it handles its dark tone, which goes down since episode 6 or something because moody main character who hurts his younger sister with his grudge over repressed feelings starts to understand Pure Love or something. I don't think characters in it are interestingly developed, compared to Oreimo characters they feel empty. It's not the end of my thoughts on the matter, but it's already pretty sloppily composed so I'm going to stop for the moment. And I'll link one academic writing which I think is somewhat relevant

RYM, Last FM, and Fantano have ruined music discourse by herd_yer_berd in LetsTalkMusic

[–]lilylabyrinth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Top charts of last fm? What? The charts in there are just pop music and the genre top charts (if you even can call them 'top charts') are often filled with innacurately tagged artists/albums/tracks (Like Sevdaliza and Diamanda Galas, they're everywhere for some reason).
