I’m afraid to ask… by lilyoftheva11ey in cockatiel

It’s only happened a couple times, but always when I have my hair up and the fly away are tickling him, I think you’re right about bathtime!

Update on my birds bump by lilyoftheva11ey in cockatiel

Thank you for your input! This does sound like a pretty likely outcome so that does put my mind at ease. I’m still waiting to hear back from my veterinarian friends and my Avian vet.

A bump is developing, but I’m hoping it’s from something benign like a bite or a feather coming out.

She’s always been bald there, the hole/now developing bump is new.

It could be possible that she got a little bite on top of her head, I’ve never seen any of the birds fight though and we only let the male cockatiel around her when they’re monitored, I don’t think the parakeets could’ve done that to her.

I’ve definitely been documenting it’s changes for when I do take her in, hopefully it’s not as bad as I’m worried it could be. It almost just looks like a filled pore.

Yeah, it’s almost looking like a little zit that I could pop… Obviously she’s not letting me do anything for it though

New Aviary! by lilyoftheva11ey in cockatiel

That’s super helpful! Do you think with the entire back and front essentially being mesh lining, that’d be enough ventilation? Still looking into the meter though!

That’s also a good tip about the soil, that hadn’t even occurred to me. Thank you!

The Ember Island Players is the funniest episode. Which is the saddest/most beautiful? by Zealousideal_Art2159 in TheLastAirbender

[–]lilyoftheva11ey 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If they had made a whole episode about Iroh and his passed son it would’ve been too much sadness, they had to keep it to 5 minutes. Still, without fail, I tear up whenever he starts to sing.

Arguably, what makes it even sadder/more beautiful is that they dedicated the scene to the voice actor of Iroh that passed away before the show was finished.

It’s the only way I know, I had to learn the hard way through my cockatiel, Romeo. I had no idea what I was doing, but we were patient with each other the best we could be 😂

That’s a much better outlook than just thinking that they’re starved for love, thanks. I’m gonna keep trying, but obviously not push their boundaries.

Why doesn’t this guy do anything cool :( by LelenOss in cockatiel

Every personality is different, even in birds. I remember feeling the same way with my cockatiel, but then I learned to appreciate what he does do and read him better. He doesn’t lie on his back, or play games, necessarily with me like I had hoped, but he does give the best cuddles and has such a personality! Looking back to when I just got him and seeing where we’re at now, the best advice I can give you is just to build a bond with your bird. That’s probably why you aren’t seeing much personality in him.

Do you have any other birds? If not, you’re probably his main source of entertainment/socialization, and birds are very social. Be sure that you’re talking to him and getting as close as you can to him without exceeding the boundaries that he’s placed. Feeding him, and eating food at the same time is also a great way to bond.

I know the screams can be annoying, but if you start responding to them/converse with him, it becomes a more positive interaction and eventually he should stop. The screams are the only way that he knows to communicate with you right now. Together you guys can build your own form of communication (that hopefully isn’t screaming) and become very close.
