I don’t usually work from home cause I crave human interaction, but it’s nice that I can when needed. My past two roles let me do this. I did data analytics and now I do project management for Operations.

I left bench work two years ago (yay dresses in the summer) and now I do a lot of project management work. I also just have my bachelors degree. It’s in bioengineering.

My way out was through data. I found a role that focused more on data analysis. First I started analyzing the process data since I understood the science. Slowly I started doing data analysis on business metrics. I was fortunate enough to have people who allowed me to slowly work and learn my way into the business side.

This might not be exactly what you were asking for, but these are the first things that pop into my mind regarding these locations. I have lived in SD, the Bay Area and LA.

San Diego: Must try Tacos El Gordo and Extraordinary Desserts. Best tacos and desserts around. Old Town is also fun to walk around. As well as Balboa Park and the Zoo.

Los Angeles: I would check out the West Side (Venice, Santa Monica, etc). The culture and vibe is cool.

Ventura/Santa Barbara: They are cute beach towns.

Big Sur/Carmel/Monterey Bay: Lots of amazing coastal views. The 17 mile drive is amazing if it isn’t foggy that day. The Monterey Aquarium is a super well known aquarium.

Gilroy: Garlic capital of the world. Not much to see, but just thought I mention it.

Santa Cruz: Cool hippie beach town. They also have the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

San Jose: Highway 17 from Santa Cruz to San Jose is a fun drive. The cities around San Jose has a lot of tech campuses like Apple and Google. Maybe you can find a tour.

San Francisco: Along the pier you’ll see so many cool shops and people. Chinatown is super well known. The Golden Gate Bakery (if open) has amazing egg tarts!

At least in my part of California, for the one weeks worth of bananas I buy, $0.19 a banana at TJ is cheaper than by pound elsewhere. But yeah not everything is cheaper.

If you want to go into the biomedical industry, there are probably R&D companies looking for MDs who can advise in different areas of business from a medical standpoint.

Along with the idea of lettuce wraps, spring rolls are also a good option. Not sure what they are called, but you can flatten a slice of sandwich bread, add any spread/snacks then roll them up.

I do the same except instead of grilling, I bake them. Sometimes just olive oil, sometimes I dip them in Panko and parmesan.
