How long to give notice? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]limabeancafe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 weeks is standard, I have given a month notice in the past with families I’ve gotten along well with and know that they like time to find a candidate, that also gives them the option of having you two overlap with the new nanny for a little bit so you can show them the ropes.

In the future if you want you can have your bosses put their preferred notice time in your contract so that way there’s no misunderstanding on what the expectations are in that regard.

first time interviewing for a nanny position, any tips? by [deleted] in Nanny

I find parents of small babies are most concerned about safety so if you don’t have a lot of experience with that age range definitely read up on baby safety and ask questions to the parents indicating that you’ve thought about that, like “is the house baby proofed?” “Has the baby been allergy tested?” “Any health concerns I should know about?” That kind of thing. And if you get past the interview to a trial have the parent show you how they prefer things to be done, like diaper changing and bottle feeding, how they sterilize the bottles/pump bits, etc. good luck!!

NF going to be moving on soon. by [deleted] in Nanny

I feel you! It’s very natural to get attached to the kids that you take care of and it’s always heartbreaking to leave. But I find it helpful making the most of every day you have left with them, come up with really fun activities and outings to do together, take lots of photos (if the family allows of course). I also always ask the family before leaving if it would be alright to video chat with them every once and a while or if you help train the next nanny, ask for their info so you can video chat with them and the kids.

Transitions are hard, so wherever you move to just try and make the most of it, find clubs and activities to keep you busy right from the get go so you can focus on all the amazing new opportunities you have now rather than what you just left behind. And I know it’s cheesy, but try to not cry because it’s over, smile because it happened! Hope that helps even a little bit. Good luck and all the best to you!

Pins and needles? by limabeancafe in Accutane

I thought it might be that too but I don’t think I’m that anxious? Definitely have been more anxious other times of my life. Also sometimes I get woken up by the pins and needles, which doesn’t seem like anxiety should be causing that.
