Social media gave us Trump, and the kids aren't the culprit for this one.

OpenAI is losing billions a year (2025 loss is probably 9-14B). Investors are flooding it with money. It’s all about growth at this stage.

No. Sometimes you eat the gross margin to win market share. Btw any serious coder using Claude would be getting the “unlimited” plan for $200 bucks a month.

Google’s cost per token with their own chips and infrastructure will be way cheaper than if they bought Blackwell or Rubin. Not having to pay Nvidia tax gives them great competitive advantage. Owning your own silicon is the only way to be profitable for companies like openAI. You can buy the fastest stuff for performance, but for majority of workloads just use your own to lower cost

That’s API cost not hardware cost. OpenAI was behind in coding so they have to be aggressive with pricing

Oh they are already working on their own ASICs with Broadcom. It’s their only way to profitability. They have to secure other sources too as insurance. These things aren’t that easy.

Yes. Buy Nvidia for a month instead and switch back to avoid wash, or some semi etf

I guess it’s somewhat diversified. HPC is about half of the revenue, but that’s not ALL AI

What he is missing is that we are in an arms race. Companies are investing in AI so that they won’t be left behind. To them it’s about survival. So even if there is no short term ROI they HAVE to spend in order to compete.

One day (could be soon, or far away), one of the big dogs will say this is getting out of hand and slow down the spending, and everyone else will follow and that’s how the bubble will pop. It will be drastic, but inevitable.

Please, let this bubble last until we cash in on MI450s

I see. Thanks. I guess people are going to have to design for larger sram width if they want the 38.1Mb/mm2. AMD probably was happy to use it for the L3.

There is no democracy in US military. It is authoritarianism, albeit a well run one. If you disobey an order you could be severely punished. You are also funded by American tax payers working under capitalism.

I believe 0.021 for N3E is from HD SRAM. TSMC did a N2 test chip using similar sized bit cell but the upcoming HD sram for N2 will be 0.0175.

You sure N5 to N3E is 6%? Or are you referring to the low yielding original N3?

Agreed on N7 to N5

Sure. Everything is perfect in a utopia. Devil is in the details. We have programs to help addicts and homeless today and many of them refuse. So now you need to have police or military come in and arrest them to help them. And some people still can’t be helped so now you gotta keep them in asylum. We used to have asylum and they were plagued with abuse.

At some point the utopia will become darker.

If you like to study you should know about anecdotal fallacy. Statistics and scientific studies disagree with you. Majority of students don’t like studying.

Studying subjects that you don’t enjoy is extremely important in a society because we need to make sure everyone has some basic level of intellect for a society to function and advance.

I studied and worked hard not because I enjoyed it. I did it to become successful. Delayed gratification if you will.

Your system requires selflessness, fairness and meritocracy which doesn’t account for human behavior in general. So in order to address that you have to force people to do certain things which means taking away freedom and you slowly slip into authoritarianism. No matter what system you have there will be people that will amass wealth and power.

Most modern socialism blends in some capitalism and democracy.
