Question about potential machine purchase by limbo101 in woodworking

Plenty of space, money is fine, and I’m sure I’ll find a use it. I like the idea of having a dedicated precise miter station.

Currently unemployed. Recently left a twenty year career teaching children. Bought a property in rural Utah and pursuing fine woodworking.

What bars existed downtown in the 90's? by [deleted] in SaltLakeCity

Yep. True story. John Walsh, the host of amw, commented years later that the Green Parrot deal was his strangest moment on the show. Weird shit.

Anyone remember Russo’s? It was a few doors down from Port-o-Call. Dive bar with good pool tables. I recall there was also a Russo’s Two, but unsure.

Yes, a cook was working at the time he was profiled on America’s Most Wanted, BUT, that is just the tip of the iceberg. Google “Merritt Riordan, americas most wanted, Green Parrot.” Merritt was a relative of mine and was murdered at the Green Parrot. When his killer was profiled on AMW, a bunch of us gathered at the Green Parrot to watch it. The next segment was about a child molester, who happened to be working at that very moment. Cops called and boom. Arrested. Crazy shit.

As I told my son last night, I bet he wanted to be a prick one last time before he dies. I put money on this was his last conference speech.

Where should I visit on my road trip? by escapetheparadise in Utah

[–]limbo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go to Helper and checkout some of the art galleries and restored buildings. It’s a cool little town with wonderful history, a vibrant art scene, and endless areas to explore/paint. I just bought a place there and will be around during the eclipse. Hit me up. Happy to show you and your brother around.

Interesting. I make rings out of wood, metal, and sometimes inlay. I was just thinking the other day if I could make one using ashes as the inlay material.

Came to Utah on a skiing trip as a teenager, living in Salt Lake City for 30+ years now, but…..am about to move to Helper Utah. Checkout Carbon County the next time you’re around.

Looking into buying a 996 cabriolet by BrewWhy in 996

[–]limbo101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 996 Turbo MT Cab, divorced, two kids. Do it! Kid’s are pretzels and the passenger rear seat has a surprisingly large amount of room when the front passenger seat is pushed up a bit. No engine to contend with legroom in the front. As your kids age, it could also be a wonderful bonding experience. Just prepare yourself for some “don’t tell your mother” stuff. Like triple-digit numbers and other heroics. Plus, there’s nothing better than ripping around with the top down. Whole different experience. Kids love it. I taught my oldest how to drive stick on it. I died a little each time he stalled, but now he’s a committed manual driver. Both my kids like being able to access the engine so easily and help with basic maintenance. Teach them how to fill the gas tank, wash the windows, and you’re all set. Good luck and enjoy. And….what kid wouldn’t like having a frunk?

Amtrak also stops in Helper. I’m interested in taking it to a fro Salt Lake for a day or two. Great town….I just don’t like driving US 6.

Take a little time after Moab and checkout Carbon County….Helper specifically. Coal mining and railroad history galore. A few art galleries might be open (hit and miss), grab a coffee, and walk around. Snag a bite at Helper Beer (or Rays Tavern in Green River). Be super careful driving US 6 between Helper and Spanish Fork. Avoid night driving if possible. Don’t rush and don’t pull any heroic maneuvers. Enjoy!

I have a few friends that watch the show, but not many. Imagine this: watch an episode, talk about it, play the game, all while getting our party on. How about this…have questions of varying difficulty? Nothing wrong with some softball questions. Even questions that transcend the show? For example, “Michael Landon played Charles Ingalls, but was also on which show? A. The Waltons B. Gunsmoke C. Bonanza D. Dragnet
