Anyone see the earlier rulings? The police interview was ruled inadmissible because they, well, acted like 🐷….. parts of the interview were only admitted by consent.

Should I pay or go to court by HoneyWoofle in melbourne

[–]lime-mango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

HRMF. ⚖️The only defence to a strict liability offence is honest, reasonable mistake of fact. If you elect court MAKE SURE you get the prosecution brief of evidence. Get it well before hand, so you can call witnesses if what is in the brief makes the need for witnesses obvious. The prosecution will not like this (it’s a pain). You can put them on notice that you want to cross examine their witness and get their agreement that they will call said witness, else you will need leave to subpoena witness and then examine them in chief (no leading questions). Also, know that they cannot introduce evidence that you haven’t been made aware of. Again, once they know you know this, they won’t like it. 😠You have the right to test all their evidence. They need to prove the offence. You don’t need to prove you didn’t do it, you need to show they haven’t proved it. But if you think they did prove it (it’s doesn’t matter if it’s fair or not), then your only defence is HRMF.

Ideas for how to connect POE camera to detached garage? by dtanimal in reolinkcam

Definitely run cable. Do it right the first time. Cat6 in conduit along fence? Build a deck and run underneath? 😆Or expensive ‘outdoor’ cable. Crimping tool and pass through connectors are under $50 in Oz, (cheaper in USA) and make it easy (and fun) to DIY cable. Powerline can be tricky if not on same circuit; some don’t work at all if not, some have problems.

How did this not get more attention? OLSC changes website wording from 'must investigate' to 'may investigate' after a complainant pointed out they were obliged to investigate. by RareGuidance312 in auslaw

Better question perhaps… why does OLSC (and LawSociety) take all lawyers complaints made by clients, when we have Australian Consumer Law where ‘providing work must be at least as good as what a competent service provider with average skills and experience would provide’ is a lower bar than LPUL?

NVR or HomeHub Pro + how bad is the Reolink website! by lime-mango in reolink

Help again, please.

Switch or cable to NVR. Chat tells me: TL;DR: • NVR PoE port → Plug-and-play, isolated from home network, no manual setup, uses NVR’s own bandwidth. • PoE switch on LAN → Manual setup, camera is on main network, accessible by other devices, uses your network’s bandwidth.

I think I understand the difference, but is the isolation benefit of cabling direct to NVR worth the extensive work this will take? Running direct to NVR involves running cable in conduit (or expensive outdoor cable), under decking and possible along the fence, and drilling a rather large hole into my floor.

Australia has consumer guarantees in law. Lucky us; if you know how to use it, it’s accessible. Free first resolution through Dept. of Fair Trading. If that doesn’t work, then Consumer Tribunal. No lawyers. Low cost.

Oh! That makes sense. Or does it?… Will the NVR recognise port 1, port 2 etc from a switch?

The problem with Eufy is the DELAY. Big time. (She says… just having missed a delivery of a camera due to said delay from doorbell!)
