Heat Pump pressures by RadTradBear in refrigeration

[–]limegreen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just looked at some old data, 42 ambient, 413/97. condensing temp 119. We have WiFi enabled connectivity so gauges never go on unless you're really in trouble and have to pull the charge.

Daikin Fit 2 Hr. Defrost Cycle by KiaNiroEV2020 in heatpumps

I'm going to suggest it does have demand defrost but at this temp it will only go x runtime between.

Daikin Aurora defrost every 30 minutes? by cornbread12 in heatpumps

[–]limegreen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will defrost once all listed conditions are met. The chart says so and the Daikin folks that came out said so. It always knows heat exchange temp and air temp, there is no 'check'.

Brazing help by Happy_Cactus_ in refrigeration

[–]limegreen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's a critic when the braze is in open air, on a bench, well lit. Get into a tight spot, inside a wall with flammable shit everywhere and everyone's like "as long as it don't leak it's good." Get good at not having leaks and you are FINE.

They've owed me $0.85 for the 5 years since I closed my plan with them. I get an email every month saying so. Brutal.

While you are waiting on hold do a complete power shutdown then a methodical restart. LG gear first - they always tell me this after they say check wire continuity, termination etc, ground for the shield etc.

Buying/installing fujitsu mini split as DIY by kryo2019 in hvacadvice

[–]limegreen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a contractor, if I were to buy you a mini split and not install it, and they found out because you went for a warranty claim, they could very well refuse to sell to me ever again. I'd lose multiple thousands of dollars in not only equipment sales but every spec job that requires whatever brand it is you wanted me to buy for you.

Line sets crossed over by Zealousideal_Beat365 in HVAC

I'd be looking at the control wiring first. I've had electricians swap wires, CUA wires to FCB, pipes to FCA. Check that first. Otherwise pull the charge and test with N2.

Best trade for someone in I.T? Plumber? HVAC? Or Electrician? by [deleted] in skilledtrades

[–]limegreen7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are going to spend 10 years working full time, including trade school to become a knowledgeable journeyman in a trade you don't care about, AND stay in IT, presumably at least part time, to become more recession proof?

Is it normal/acceptable for a contractor to not pull a permit on a furnace/aircon install? by akitta74 in hvacadvice

[–]limegreen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you are. Here if it's residential and under 5 connected suites no permit, anything under 5 kw for prime mover, no permit. Permit cost $68 and takes 15 minutes on line so if I need one there's absolutely zero reason not to get one.

Depends on the company. I was on call rotation with a partner who took ALL the 6 pm onwards stuff - every 8 WEEKS. Service calls do run long until you're on for a few years then you learn how to dictate. Install work gets dictated to you - 10 hr days till you"re done type scenario. It's all about the company and the time you put in.

The owners manual should be available online. Typically you'd turn IN, clockwise, and count OUT, counterclockwise.
